Go to rock?

I have started again so many times I wonder if Legend will ever be unlocked?

So right now after several attempts I stuck at the end of a stage looking at a big rock. I have been all over it, all around it at various radius, returned to last waypoint so many times there will be a millenium bug in the timing!!

??????????? absolute wtf, would this even be possible in Legend mode? Is it broken perhaps...sure feels like right now.

So I'm looking at this note... Highlighted, it is saying go over the rock with danger 3? What am I reading wrong here!

I did what the game told me: go over the rock. I got stuck, kicked the car down, jumped after it and continued my ride. I'm on my first playthrough at rookie level, no idea if you survive this on higher leves.

I think the note is incorrect. Note 81 is actually over a click further (actually where note 82 mentions). Thing is, it is now dark (game time) after hours of penalties right here at the end...I really don't have the motivation to restart or continue right now...arg!!!!

You know what, the game does appear to tell us to go over it! Actually the note which yourself and I read as 'go over rock' is actually referring to the *previous* waypoint, where we go down through a bunch of large rocks. The first image I posted, we are to go left of that one.

I don't think I'm cut out for Legend. It would be game over right now...though it is anyway because I am suddenly last place with a time double that of the AI who is second-to-last. It just feels like time to restart again, I completed Rookie but that doesn't unlock Legend. Super frustrated.

That one will help but there's plenty more hurdles that I remember from Rookie playthrough. I don't like stopping at a waypoint but it seems sometimes the only way...better than multiple 20 minute penalties like I had here right at the end.

Hey guys, as for your timing after stage 5 do not worry too much about it. There is a lot of ground to be made up in the next third of the stages. As for stupid waypoint on Stage 4 it really frustrates me over and over this waypoint, but I always manage to find a way to make it ding... usually after 4 or 5 minutes of driving around the area.

Stick with it, this game is hard because Dakar is hard. I remember hearing of the drivers say, "This is a race that is designed to destry the cars, and the peaople who drive them." Another said that, "Everything is trap, there is no escape."

You will do it, and when you do maybe you will feel some of that look in their eyes they are talking about in the trailor. I know I did when I won Competitor, and I imagine I will bawl when I when Legend.

I sure hear that @Solyne. I won't be able to make up the hours lost on that single waypoint, I would always ride around and had a 6th sense to find them. But the note was wrong so it never happened until I rode it at 10mph just to see what happened. I feel like drawing a note myself and sending it to the developers! But I'm sure they know this.

So I just want to get Competitor over with now already. That's a shame as it should've been the most fun part of the game wiout silly manual note and tripometer adjustments. What do we park up and have a cup of tea in Legend haha!

For sure I will stick with it, but only to take part in the Championship thread. The only alternative is to start again but it is already taking too long to unlock Legend. No doubt only 1% of players will achieve this unless they brute force it like I intend to (10 years of penalties time I'm done pulling out hair)....it was all so easy and fun until this checkpoint, now I want it to be over and the 4 hour waypoint penalty to go away.

@devs. please change this HARSH penalty system. A single 20 minute penalty is bad enough without sticking it on repeat for the exact same waypoint. Obviousy nobody in real life would drive back and forth clocking up 20 minute penalties on a single waypoint. They would be kicked out of the event for riding/driving like a d-i-c-k.

Hahahahaha forget the 20 minute pena;lty that is nothing. In Legend you cannot go0 back to a save... finish it or start over.

Warch out starting stage 6, 7 especially, and others... the speed limits are dead serious and will charge extremely harch pena;ties.

Now back to that waypoint on stage 4 again, I think the book may be right, the problem is how do we get down the rocks and find it without going so far off cap.

Notice therfe is a beautiful stepdown, but it takes you to the right and out of range of the waypoint. soon as you hit bottom go slow and turn left, it is just over there to the left, "I always looked to the right, LOL)

I've been anticipating Legend since release. It took a while but at last I have found my pace, up until now I was always pushing too hard without correcting overshoots as well as recently. I blame Rookie mode for this!

I'm not concerned about the penalty any longer...even a single 20 minute penalty is harsh, and much better to learn how to avoid them. Navigation has became even more enjoyable than I previously thought. But the notes are so much clearer/darker with the HUD on.

Ah yes I am just on stage 6, no problem with the speed limits...Rookie mode did prepare for this.

Yes stage 4 notes are correct, but it is a strange hint (pile of bricks) which is not readable on dash and also not visible at distance even at 1080p. The stepdown on the previous note is highly enjoyable after a dozen runs!! I think the thing is, the original note also shows a large rock which the stepdown is apparently *that* note...but I was ahead of myself. I think by cutting corners on approach my tripometer was out. Stage 5 my pace clicked, no more cutting corners, enjoyed the game much more :)

Sounds like a wise compromise Brother Victor. I do strive for Legend (AI or otherwise), but I think a vehicle's onboard computer should auto-adjust which is exactly what the bike's in this game have (virtual co-pilot) in Competitor mode. So this could mean I can use a bike in the championship if you do decide on the change then ideal I think :)
