Bioshock won't let me enter Arcadia

At first my game didnt play sounds, only during the cut scenes and during the little plasmid cartoons. Then I couldn't get past the first scene in Rapture where that first guy gets killed. Got passed that by waiting it out. Now I can't enter Arcadia for the first time through that Smuggler's cove or whatever. Everytime enter the little room and try to enter arcadia nothing happens and I'm stuck in the room.
I even killed my self to try to fix that. I verified the game file, that didn't work; I read somewhere that if I set preferences to read only it would work. Read only does not stay off, it turns back on after I click ok.

My computer can run Arkham Origins and Advanced Warfare on max so this shouldn't be a problem.

Also, my game still does not play sound at all the subtitles aren't working, among other things. That would be nice.

Help Please.

I found out that if you turn on one of the recordings and leave the menu after you have turned the bulkhead's handle, the game will load.

Set bioshock to XP compatability if you want sound btw

For anyone experiencing this problem, you have to pick the last audio log and then force the game to load its variables without the save/load function -you do this by going back into the tunnel to load the last level then press "T" -audio log will start working then come back and everything will be ok.
