BioShock

BioShock

No sound?!
The sound disapears when the plane splashes into the water in the very beginning of the game?
Using W10.

I'm on Windows 8.1 and after the first intro scene all the sound stops. I have no Idea what the problem is either.

OKAY! Tried what someone else mentioned to plug something (I used a random pair of headphones) into the /microphone/ jack in the CPU. It WORKED! I'm so relieved because I'd tried using them in the headphone jack but got nothing, even checking all my drivers didn't work.

So I plugged them into the microphone jack and now my speakers work... Awesome!

I tried that, but it didn`t work for me. there again, my Mic is is on a dedicated Amp... via HDMI.

I also tried running as administrator, but no luck

I also tried running it as for Windows Vista SP2, but it didnt work then either.

Then I noticed the topic at the head of the threads... and it said to run as Windows XP.
Why dont they code that into Steam.

I shouldn't have to manually adjust something to get sounds to work. Even games from 1990s have working sounds.

go into Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Sound. In the box that pops up, go into Recording tab, right click a clear space and make sure that 'Show Disabled Devices' is ticked. Once done, a device called 'Stereo Mix' should show. Enable this and enjoy BioShock with sound!

It worked for me, I had the same problem, I'm using Windows 10 too. :)

But I guess you already solved the problem by this time right? ^.^

Have a nice day! :)

Works fine... Thankyou TremorGirl

I went to the *.exe file and turned compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Worked like a charm.

'Stereo Mix' doesn't show. Do I need to download something?

Thanks a million! Did this, rebooted the game and the audio seems to work now.
