The demo isn't working

I downloaded the demo for the first bioshock game, and when i try to boot it up, it just gives me a white screen, and the resolution of my desktop becomes blurry, and very large. does anyone know why this is happening ?

i ran it in compatibility mode for windows vista (service pack 2) and it worked for me

i bought the remaster and that solved the problem for me
