BioShock

BioShock

The CD version
I got the CD version, but it requires me to insert the CD in order to play. Can I download the necessary files from Steam using the CD key code or smth?

Click "+ ADD A GAME" at the bottom left corner of Steam. Click "Add a Product on Steam....", it should allow you to activate via CD Key. If not then idk.

There is no way to 'activate' the product on Steam using the CD key. The best you can do with a physical copy of the game is, like the above poster said, add it to your library so you can launch it through Steam, but the disc will still be required to play.

Did they change that or what? I've had no need for CD's when I activated through steam. Although the last time I bought a physical copy of a game was 4 years ago.

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say you activated something on Steam.

Product activation via CD Key.
So you're saying you took the CD Key from inside the case, entered it into Steam, and then were able to download the game?

Yes. Assassins Creed II the last time I did it. I didn't install via CD but through Steam.

Well um, I found a list of CD keys than can be activated on Steam:

And there are no Assassin Creeds on there, but I did see that you do have it registered to your account, so I don't know...

Well that's weird.... maybe it has changed since I did it. That was back in 2010 and steam has gone through quite a few changes since then.

Try this. It's an unofficial No-CD crack which allows to play without a CD. I can't confirm if it works though since I bought Bioshock via Steam.

Choose a mirrir.. and serch for bioshock. Choose the correct No CD version (version of your game) and download No CD patch.

Just buy the game again. Or just buy the triple pack if you didnt buy any BioShock on Steam until now. There is a big sale for the BioShock games actually.
I think BS1 is for 5 in the Store actually...
Even though I think I already saw it for 2,50 at a sale.
More than worth it.
