The solution would be a class action against securom.
back in the mid 2000's publishing companies during probably some of the most runaway sales figures that there will ever be were still not satisfied. They took their dissatisfaction and invested it into a subsidiary of sony called Sony dadc or " Sony digital audio disc corporation ". Which to video game and computer hobbyists should translate to UMG or any music record label company for that matter.
So Sony dadc whom may or may not have assisted in preventing piracy with those strange black playstation discs proudly began expanding their protections on CDs. So in 2005 or 2006 depending on whom you asked Securom a new digital protection for games would require an internet connection to communicate to a server to allow an installation as well as a rootkit to prevent further installations...on your own machine? That it can only be installed once on. Sony Logic, so after this happened video game journalists and publishing companies swore up and down that securom servers would never go offline and users would always have access to their goods. This is of course lies, as during the late 2000's sony's own technology cd development would destroy itself and everyone around them with the creation of the Blu-Ray. A proprietary disc format owned by sony that it could rack up charges and costs on other media companies that produce games and movies by charging them more for doing development on their own media. In more layman terms it meant blu-ray would have worse quality of life features than DVD an open source cd format that didn't charge people for making menus, proper letter boxing and library memory. This lead to people simply going to netflix since the menu was better, the experience as a whole making sdadc and sony venture into securom a sunk cost fallacy.
Fast forward today and Securom isn't online or supported in any way, it is easier to PIRATE securom titles than it is to jump through the hoops needed because a corporate entity thought it knew better than the customers. Much in the same way Steam has been warped into a social media platform first and a games store second. So that any time you go to a forum to complain and chew the fools out for making such DUMB short term gain decisions a hoarde of blue checkmark, blue haired, stigmata mutilated potatoes will come barging down your thread and demand your stigmata be removed for the crime of demanding better service.
Gabe you used to be a good guy, destroy the forums, or at least separate it from the store forums so that improvements can be made.
So did that link I provided help you in anyway or not? Also yeah I agree, Steam is trying so hard to copy Discord, Reddit, Twitch, Quora, Facebook, etc. Oh and as a fellow adversary against those onion knights too, I think you should be careful of expressing your opinions of them. Because the global moderators and Steam Support don't take too kindly to those that are against such a radical cult.
