Field of vision suffocating when you put on Big Daddy helmet

Hey all, I beat Bioshock on 360 many years ago and I got it on PC recently and have been having a great time, until the part where you need to become a Big Daddy to get through the door to kill Frank Fontaine. I have no clue how my younger self suffered through this part. As soon as I put that helmet on and my field of vision is reduced to a tiny pinhole, my desire to play this game drops to zero. I feel sick when playing it.

I can't see anything. The edges of this tiny porthole are warped, and some of the guns clip through the black space on the screen. It is the ugliest most game ruining thing I have ever seen.

Is there any way to keep the regular full screen view after putting on this stupid helmet, or am I gonna have to drop this game.
