First machine hack immediately short circuiting. Can't progress

Hi everyone, I just reinstalled this game to replay. I can't progress past the first bot (the one stuck in the doorway) because the machine short circuits about a second after the hack sequence starts. I mean I immediately click a tile or two and then the machine short circuits.

I've played this game before with no issues so I think this may be a bug. Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have any ideas for a fix? Cheers
