Casting Distance - Determine How Far and New Rod Purchases
Hi all,

Determine How Far:
I cannot figure out how far I am casting? Is there anyway to determine that distance?

Same question for a new rod purchase (before purchasing):
Is there any way to determine how far a rod can cast before purchasing it?

For example, I need to be able to cast 78 meters with a feeder rod at Belaya to reach a certain area so I don't want to make a mistake and buy a rod that cannot cast (at least) that far. Again, is there any way to determine the rod casting distance before purchasing?

Thank you.

No, it is not possible to dertermine the casting Distance, before you buy the Rod. But there are alot of values that influence it.

What improves your casting distance the most, are the Skillpoints you spend for your Reel Type and the Rod Type. Each Point spend will increase the casting distance ~5%. As Result. If you spend 5 Points in your reel type and 7 Pooints in your Rod type, you will cast ~ 60% further than a player without the skillpoints.

The length of the rod affects the distance too. Longer rod = bigger leverage.
The max "test" affects the possible casting distance too. a 10g bait does not fly as far as a 100g bait :P.

Than you have some Rods with extra Stats like "Carp Rods +3" or +XX% Casting Distance.
That type of Rods cast further than similar Rods without that Stats.

If you want to know how far you can cast with your current equip, there are 2 Options.
There are colored Lines, which add an icon to your "power Bar", that increases in Steps of 5m. Based on the amount of line that got spooled.

Another way to check for cast distance would be the "line clip". You could set the Clip to 90m, cast your bait and look at the line. If the bait hits the water, but the line is still loose, you know your cast was less than 90m. You can reduce the clip and throw again, until you see that the line gets "taut" and the bait stopped in the air, before hitting the water surface. Than you know how far you cast the bait.

Beside that: There are alot of experienced players and Streamers, who know what kind of equip you could buy and use. Just ask them and get a recommendation. There are not many Rods that ppl recommend, because most of the experienced players look at the value and not on something like cast distance.

Exeption: Ultra Light and Light Spinning reels. Because cast distance is very important for baits at 5g or less.

I could write a "whole book" about the topic, but it would be easier to help you if ppl would know your Level, what kind of Equip you use and what you want to catch. Belaya is not easy if you are not spinnfishing.

@shnoopx: All that information is extremely helpful. Thank you very much.

@shnoopx: I am finally able to cast 60m after updating my skills per your advisement and changing the weight of my sinker. I actually gained a 15m cast increase by changing my sinker weight from 30g to 70 gr. Thanks again.

When it comes to casting very light lures you will see the most benefit from as low as possible test on your reel(as long as the lure weight you are using sits within your rods test. This is easy to see on low profiles, baitcasters etc because it will state exactly what test it has. Spinning reels don't actually state what test they are but generally the smaller size they are the lower the test. Normally people just go for a UL or L casting rod + lowprofile reel for the very light lures to maximize cast distance.

Thank you for those tips!

UL Spin Fishing is a whole other topic.

The most important advice: If you plan to try UL fishing, do NOT buy a regular reel and do NOT use a Spinning rod.

The second most importand advice: LP fishing is "End game" Content. Do not buy "cheap stuff" just to test it. It will be wasted Silver. The Setup I would recommend costs at least ~12k Silver for Reel and Rod.

Low Profile Multi reel and Baitcast Rod only.
The main reason: If you use a UL Spining rod the maximum Size of your reel is 1000. And almost all size 1000 Reels have the same amount of line you can use. The problem is, if you use a Reel with a higher drag, you need a thicker line. And at the high end, you are way below 100m of line.

The most important stat für LP Multi reels is the max test. It should be BELOW 3g.
The first reel I would recommend is the Trident Pillar 2. Which has almost the best value, because you can tune it later, to make it even better.

And FYI: The "best" LP reel, if you coinsider all changes after tuning, is not the most expensive reel. ^^ It's the Zeiman Jet-Series JSX.

Dude thank you for sharing this knowledge… so far you’re the only person that I’ve found on the internet with solid info about this. I was about to waste a lot of silver getting a UL reel that I thought was going to give me way more distance. So thanks mate

pay attention to your rods test. if you are using a spiker 2, its only around 4g. you want to use a rod that has the proper test. next you want thin mono line. casts further. hope this helps
