A bunch of questions
Hello. I have a bunch of questions so I figured I would put them all together. If you can help answer any of them, it would be appreciated.

1) What's the point of the Bolognese Rig? It seems that the only difference between it and the Fixed Float rig is that you can't use a standard float with it, while you can use either with the basic rig. And for that matter, what's the benefit of the Bolognese float? I just find them harder to see with the thin antenna.

2) Does bait size (weight) matter?

3) How can I better increase my Spinning skill at level 12? It seems like even at the rivers, that are supposedly best for spin fishing, the vast majority of fish are caught with bait instead of lures. The tons of perch and moderate amount of pike aren't helping anymore.

4) What's the difference (outside of quality) with the standard hooks? There are a ton of options, and plenty of lower-quality ones that cost more than higher-quality hooks.

5) What does float quality do? Also, why so many different floats?

6) What's the effect of temperature? We're told that it affects fish behavior, but how do I know in what way?

7) Lure color. I've read the guides which were posted on the forum; they offer different (and sometimes conflicting) information. How do I know the difference between a silver lure with blue stripes and a copper lure with blue stripes?

8) How close do I need to get to grass, reeds, lily pads, wood, etc? I know they're supposed to increase bite rate, but do I have to be on top of them to see a difference? Two meters? How does it work?

9) How does the wind work? I read that it moves fish in the direction it's blowing. Does that mean that a wind out of the NW will increase the bite rate in the SE section of the map as a whole, or that fish will move towards the SE bank of any part of the map?

I'll keep it under ten questions for now. Thank you for reading! I've been enjoying my first couple of weeks.

Hi,
I will try and answer a few of your questions.

1) You can use a standard rig or bolognese rig with a bolognese rod. In theory that should make a difference for attracting the target fish, but many here doubt that. My personal experience is that I catch more and better with a bolognese rig. Where it really matters to use both methods, however, is when it comes to your experience points. The rate of experience points you achive with bytes is inf\creased when you use the newly achieved methods, and decreases over time when always using the same rig/method. Generally spoken, many players do not see the need of using bolognese rods at all, however I personally like them a lot more than fixed rods, especially for fishing in streams, and when it comes to reel in a larger fish, which you need to let fight a while, in order to decrease it's force before reeling it in.

2) Yes

3) Your spin fishing skills will take off again when fishing at the next available waters. Going for trout at Belaya river and Crystal Lake (trolling there) will increase your experience, since it is new species to fish for and also new lures to use. In the meantime you may want to build up a solid stash of silver coins in order to be able to gear up for stronger fish.

4) dunno

5) dunno,I guess they behave differently and it is also a lot about personal preferences. If you fish in real life, look through your boxes and count the amount of different hooks and floaters, etc you have gathered; there you get your answer ;-)

6) Fish behaviour is influenced by wheather, perticularly temperature. This is part of your personal learning curve in the game. Asking these questions to other players is your first step to mastering it. However, I am not abig help there, because I do not fish that systematically.

7) Fish are colour-blind :-). Therefore, the patterns and colours of a lure do not really matter. What fish do see, though, is contrasts. So at a clear full-moon night, a black lure will give much better results than a silver one, while at a pitch-dark, foggy, rainy night, the silver one will do better. The patterns are more for luring the angler's money out their pockets, to be honest. Still, I do have my personal patterns where I believe they work way best, of course ;-).
What really *does matter*, though, is size!. And there are waters where wobblers work better than spinners, and so on. Part aof your personal learning curve, again.

8) Different fish prefer different habitats. So, try, rinse, repeat, and make up your own knowledge base (again). Discussing with other players (ingame chat) nd reading/discussing in the RF4 forum or here will be very beneficial for you.

9)No clue if this is correct. It would be correct in real world, though, so probably worth the gamble .-)

Have fun fishing, once you are past the "Old Fort", your options will increase dramatically, and at some point you will wish to enjoy the calm days at the Winding Rivulet and Silver Lake again. :steamhappy:

So for 4,5 and 9 I will chime in. For 4 and 5, my answer is basically one word. Descriptions. Read the descriptions in the game, they are full of information. Also of note for floats, you generally want to use the lightest float that will not be submerged by your bait. For 9, it is part of the learning environment in the game. Experimentation and notation of different results is the key. Many people post the wind direction when posting their trophies on the forums and in Discord. Combine this with your own information and go from there.
