Ghost snag issue which is almost a year-old bug is still there
And it makes bottom-feeding near impossible. From talking with peopl it only seems to be happening to certain people, but I'd guess it has to do with certain playstyles (aka whether or not people do bottom feeding or not at this point).

I can hardly fish once without getting my line stuck at the bottom of the lake. To make things worse, it seems to actually be stuck for fish as well. Meaning that if your like is stuck, you will NEVER catch a fish, as they will nibble on it, take it and immediately get ripped off their mouth or stay there forever. Out of the ~50 times it's happened to me just yesterday and the day before, I had a single case of the fish actually staying on the stuck line until I successfully get it unstuck 5 minutes later. I've also already broken several gear pieces while trying to get the lines unstuck.

I will not be playing the game until this bug is fixed, as I am mainly a bottom-fisher, and this makes my vocation extremely frustrating.

First of all I can assure you that the development of RF4 is far from being abandoned. We are aware of this bug and it is paticularly difficult to fix. Until we find a way to handle it, we suggest not to cast at paticular spots that continue to produce this bug.
The most common places where the "invisible snag" appears are water lillys on Mosquito Lake, Old burg and Ladoga Lake.
Sometimes they also occur while hooked on a tree under water.

It is not necessary to cast your baits directly into the lillys, as long the bait is in range, fish will find it.

This issue isn't funny because I have it happen to me quite regularly and I don't bother trying to un-snag, I just log out but I fought what i thought was a huge fish for probably 20 minutes the other day only to hit R and.....nope - bug again. Why does the game have a snag feature by the way?
How about adding things like - get the hook stuck in your pants, hook your finger, crap your pants, or have the fishing police come and ask to see my carp license and boilie handlers permit?

I came back to this game today after about 2 years, never had this issue when i played before, but today it happened with every cast. All I've managed to find online is that everybody who hasn't experienced this, including admins on other forums, just think its a fish too big for the tackle or poor tackle management in general and for some reason won't believe that its a genuine bug that has alot of complaints including video proof. Very strange reaction to dismiss it as much as I've seen it been.

One player has suggested that doing a 360 spin with your character whilst reeling in may free you from these snags. I would recommend having a look at other feeder baskets in the tackle shop. There are some that are designed to separate from the bottom upon reeling. You can see this in their description. These may also help prevent this.

Got the same issue a every single cast while bottom fishing. Cast, let it sink, try to tighten the line, snag. No "big fish" would bite at every cast after a few second. 360 does indeed unsnag, but it will snag again after hitting the bottom. Tried changing the sinker / feeder, to no avail. Bottom fishing is just not an option aymore on mosquito and old burg (didn't make it further, just left the game, only adding to the thread with the hope that "one day", that kind of stuff will be fixed)

Have been bottom fishing (feeder) at Old Burg for days now, with exactly one ghost-snag. Relogging solved it for me. 360-degree turns solve the issue in many (but not all) cases as well. However, this is just a dirty workaround, so @crucian, keep forwarding these claims to the devs, not fixing such an issue for more than a year is just lame.

Hey dev, any kind of trick to unstuck a stuck line doesn't fix the actual EFFECT of the issue, which is missing the large majority fishes to it getting stuck, basically making bottom feeding pointless.

He's not a dev.

You're having an issue that a very small % of people have. You may want to try out the previous advice of different feeders and avoiding certain bottom locations.

Bug still there in 2022 and nobody seems to care.
Bottom fishing is nearly impossible for me. Like in 3 out of 4 casts - boom, the ghost snag. Tried the key "R" to see if it is a fish by any chance - but no. Tried to do the 360 spin to see if it helps. Unless I am doing something wrong it did not help.
I tried to register to rf4game.com to contribute to the bug report there - registration failed due to server issues.
Logging out and in is really not convenient due to high loading times.

I am about to give up.

Can you screenshot your setup?

I suppose you mean what I use for bottom fishing, right?
Here is the screenshot: https:// ctrlv.cz /lyek
just remove the spaces.
I have bought things based on some youtube tutorial... but if there is some better, snag-reducing option, I would be certainly going for it.
And thank you for your help. :)

Maybe a bit too heavy of a sinker. You generally dont need to cast that far for bottom fishing until late game, especially with that light of setup. Could be sinking into the silt of Mosquito and causing issues.

Where are you casting? What lake? Open water? Branches/lilies/brush?
komichal Apr 7, 2022 @ 3:05am
I am at the Mosquito. Casting from the pier that is straight ahead where I spawn when traveling there.
It does not matter much if I target open water or try to aim closer to the shore.
I will try a bit lighter sinker to see if it improves.

Lemme know how it goes.

i just experienced, twice, getting snagged throwing a telescope line out at Rivulet, near the wooden walkway bridge, casting with the current.

As soon as the line hit the water, as in as soon as the splash came, it was snagged and broken at the same time. I have 4.8kg line no leader. I've been fishing that same area with spinners and floats and never had this, let alone ripping the line immediately

Line breaking immediately sounds like a large fish hit it, not a snag.
Or there was far too much weight being used for the setup.
