I always find it interesting how for some players the answer is "go somewhere else", when somebody posts a valid question.

RF4 to me is like a dealership that only sells white cars. Want a car in another colour? Go to a different dealership, we only sell white cars and we will never change that.

It also seems like some players have the need to say something negative about a game every chance they get.

What draws you to this dealership, why not go to a different one if you aren't getting what you are looking for?

That being said, eventually one has to accept the fact that no game is going to be perfect, some better than others, or just different, but none perfect. It escapes me what you plan to accomplish by lingering constantly in a discussion about a game that you don't seem to appreciate much if you think they are never going to change it.

I have put the game on hold after 365 hours, mostly because of the stoic stance the developers take.

Now that does not mean the game does not interest me, it does. But with the current development road that seems to be highly centred around generating revenue rather than providing an enjoyable experience, combined with the attitude some have that you either like it, or take a hike and go somewhere else, I cannot enjoy nor recommend the game in it's current state.

Maybe I come back once the micro transactions are more in line with the word micro, maybe not. There are other options out there.

And I have e-mailed them on multiple occasions about the rather high pricing of items, and they categorically told me no, never going to change.

It is no different now than it has ever been. I'm not sure what this means. You do not have to pay a single penny on the game. There is no "winning". They even provided ways to get handmade lures and get to the newest DLC with silver.

Again confused. It is no different state than it ever has been.

And that is a perfect description of the issue: nothing has changed.
Like I said, after 360 hours I found it to low on enjoyment to continue spending my time on it.

I don't understand what is supposed to change.
It's not pay to win. It's free to play. There's free DLC being added. The Devs are far more involved in the community than they have ever been. The player numbers are at the highest it has been.

If you no longer enjoy the grind that is fishing, then that's fine. But don't blame the developers without reason, or false statements about only caring about generation of revenue.

If the high prices of items are what is bothering you, then please understand that these prices are there for a reason - and it's not greed. There is an economical balance that needs to be achieved. They would make MORE money if they lowered prices. They know this.
But things would get out of hand with content progression vs available content.

Yes, I have read before that the pricing is the way it is for a reason, and without that things would "not work" properly.

All I can say to that, is that this fishing game has in game ATM machines. That should tell you all you need to know why the pricing is the way it is.

I currently have roughly 110 hours into another fishing game, that in many aspects is identical to this game and interestingly enough developed by a different Russian Developer. At level 19 I have much more gear available to me, have to worry way less about the silver cost of almost everything, and have 4000 silver to boot from. Proof "it works" just as well if not better if you are less stingy with in game currency.

For development they could have opted to do something as the OP was looking for, with a game setting that shows nearby players if you prefer to play that way. Instead they opted for a new map and by the comments from multiple other players it's pretty expensive to play in that map.
They did make one huge multi begger game, where people who can't or won't spend their resources constantly begging for bait or gear.

I, again, do not understand your point. What do ATM machines have to do with anything? Nobody even uses them. They are more cosmetic than anything.

I know of which developer you are referring to, and he is not Russian, although he is a russian war sympathizer that has admitted to changing the code to punish anti war countries of origin and should not be supported in any aspect. Woolf is a POS. And no, it does not work as well. I had max gear there in 2 months with no reason to continue playing as the game itself isnt nearly as detailed.

The game engine isn't built that way and would provide almost nothing, especially to their core players. Most RF players who stick around have played for multiple years. They need content and couldn't care less if they can see someone next to them or not.

And it's not expensive at all if you are at the level you are supposed to be for the map.
The visitor pass is expensive, but it also covers boat costs and gear repair costs, so isnt as expensive as it first seem, if you know what you are doing.

We can agree to disagree. I still think they could provide a better multi-player experience, and I don't see 1 map providing enough content to last for months.

We can. But falsities do not help anyone. RF4 is perfectly capable of being played completely free, item wise. The majority of us long-term players have only ever bought premium, or maybe a little gold bait for sturgeon hunting back in the day.

The map isnt supposed to last "months" by itself. It's an addition to the other maps that provides a different experience. Also, being a sea map, it's also a blueprint for the future of the game. It took them a long time and a lot of work to get it going and provides nothing but upside for the road ahead.

And ps, if it was only about money, they could have sold the water body as DLC and almost every single person over level 34 would have bought it.

My opinion is not a falsity. I do find the micro transactions in this game to expensive. It has nothing to do with false or not.

I have 0 money in this game, not even VIP Premium. And I can tell you from my own experience, it's extremely punishing to play that way. And that's not an accident, that is by design.

Your opinion can very well be different, hence why we can agree to disagree.

Then I guess all I can say is that you are playing it wrong.
Joining an RF4 community outside of the game may greatly improve your experience.
Killjoy, I haven't spent on this adventure a single penny and so far I only see nightmarish grind by catching bream and bleak. After putting down 540 hrs and reaching level 27 I still don't have enough credits to get good enough gear to travel waterways I uncovered, this is very unfortunate, but this is the way for people who don't pay.

Yet again, false. If this was the case, the game would be massively negatively rated.

The game is a grind, but unless you are doing something massively wrong, you should MORE than be able to handle any water body you unlock by level. There are always going to be some fish species you can't target, but that's normal. You come back for them later.
