I'd love to see a remake of apocalpse done with only turn-based combat. I think most of the flaws in it stem from the fact they insisted on including a real time mode that nobody wanted. XCOM will always be best as a turn based game.
I must have spent hundreds of hours in Apocalypse. Has not happened again from 1999 (?) ago in any other game.
And what happens today? Got plenty of money to spend. But rarely find anything entertaining enough for several years, often not even for two weeks.
P.S. the turn based and realtime in apoc was flawless so dont knock it or you will piss off someone who started with x-com back in the days when cd's where "proof of purchase" (ya I am old lol) It was made perfectly, you can play which ever way suits you taste... good games are always flexable, ♥♥♥♥ games (like the new xcom) force you to the limited scope of the incompitent game devs.... maybe you should look into how final fantisy got its name - then you would understand ...and also be very ammused (it is a funny story)

I know it was optional, but the effort they put into having a real-time mode clearly detracted from the turn-based one. You can tell by the difference between this and the prior XCOM games. If they had set up the entire game exclusively for turn-based mode, the results would have been better.
Incunabulum mention this but i try describe more detailed for u)

I can see why this may frustrate you, as we progress through alpha and into beta we should hopefully get an installer but lots to do first before the game is completely up to scratch
The main appeal at the moment is the game is completable (rare for an Alpha state game) and we already have many new features
People are welcome to join us at the OpenApoc discord (which appears to have activity most days compared to the forums) for the latest updates and discussions as they happen
