Aliens took over Megapol. How can I prevent this and how did it happen? I have gone on every mission in buildings that came up

What should you do? Well, either you reload, or be prepared to fight megapol at a regular basis. They won't sell you stuff too, though you may raid them for it.

How did it happen and how to prevent? Well, first of all, lack of missions doesn't necessary mean lack of aliens. A building may be contaminated without any mission popping up on it. So if you (get an insight and) send a squad into such a building and start an attack on aliens, you'll just get a usual anti-alien mission. And if there actually weren't any aliens - then you'll get an angry organization :fmad:
So what did happen? It's simple. Megapol got one or more such buildings and wasn't able to either deal with the aliens itself (this may happen too), or report an alien activity to you. Then - some time of contamination and they are happily brainwashed :swdshiner:
How to prevent this? You have two ways. First, it is adviseable to monitor alien craft when it's on the move. If you see an alien ship beaming into some building, it meand 90% of the time you may just make an anti-alien mission there instantly, without waiting for an alert. Second, you should monitor an organization's contamination levels. And if there is an organization that has a high level of alien activity - it would be wise to clean their buildings ASAP.

If a mission is completed, but aliens got away, they can end up in the same building OR the buildings around them. Also, if megapol is taken over, you get ALOT more money in the long run. Raiding megapol, or megapol raids on you (with proper base defences) get you alot more gear than you can ever buy weekly.

I reloaded and investigated all megapol buildings and killed remaining aliens. It the building was empty I reloaded and went to another building. This game is shockingly comprehensive with the economy and corporations, the aliens raiding the corporations and sometimes beating them, moving to different buildings, etc

The game originally was supposed to have alot more features, but many were half completed or cut to make a forced ship deadline. So some things are amazing, yet feel unfinished.

I didn´t know that. If this masterpiece´s got half completed features, well hell, try to imagine if it was full completed.

Theres code for more in depth diplomacy (not just the pay for them to like you), spying, larger ground battles (alot more aliens and allied units from the people getting attacked), more alien types...etc etc.

Definitely keep an eye out on the trajectory of UFOs too. They like swooping around dropping aliens on buildings. You can usually see their transport beam and it's a good idea to investigate any building they dropped on before there's an actual alert.
Track the level of alien infiltration on the graph. If it gets above thirty percent you can click on the organisations on the map to see each of their buildings and then send your troops to them. It's sometimes worth the reputation hit to clear the aliens out.

See Alert, reload from earlier time, and send agents so they can't breed around. Also track infiltration and savescum investigate.
