I finally got to this game after years... My thoughts

I had this title from a $0.99 bundle I had not redeemed for a long time because I lost interest and then after some cutscenes in gameplay I saw on YouTube, I said "Screw it! and added all Larry games to my Steam account. When I first learned of its existence, it was back in the year it released, and I saw it across G4TV shows (likely X-Play and Cinematech.) I later learned of its controversy, which to me, can always be an exaggeration and even misleading in regard to quality for a game.

After playing this game more than several years later, I realize that while it definitely seems like something I would have played years ago, considering I enjoy games like POSTAL 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day, there is not a lot about the gameplay that I enjoy. In fact, I am pretty bored from that.

What I do enjoy about this game is the humor, interaction/exploration, and cartoon nature around college life. Also, Josh Keaton is an entertaining actor for Lovage.

What I don't like are the mini games (even after learning them), the character of Larry Lovage, the plot, and the lack of other gameplay objectives.

This games has funny moments, but the whole experience feels like a neat idea that was poorly executed. Most of the time, I don't even care much for Larry or his troubles. I laugh more about it all than anything else. It would just be nice if the gameplay offered more that would NOT keep me bored. Search for items and play mini games. Oh-well! At least I can still urinate in public and even on other characters. The two games I mentioned earlier allow the same thing, and they give me more ways to enjoy the game.

Also, even though the goal is to get Larry laid, everything seems to be mainly aimed for humor, which I am told is similar to the past games. I was not a previous fan of Leisure Suit Larry, but I can say that based on the opinions of others is that this game is basically a parody of the others, and it is still limited in what it does differently. There is not even a simple system in place for Larry to truly romance and grow closer to the females he is with. Rockstar's Bully does a better job with this and it does not need sex and nudity involved. It creates scenes with meaningful moments and benefits, while Magna C*m Laude is focused on pure mishaps and humor.

I think I would laugh twice as hard if the gameplay had more to offer that was FUN to me! Anyway, Magna C*m Laude is not a bad or a great game, in my opinion. It's just an okay humorous ride of adult jokes for a time and not much else. If anyone is expecting crazy amounts of sex and nudity, they won't find it here. It is light with that material. It would not matter if the gameplay and options hit it out of the park.

I share your opinion, I played this game years ago, when I was a kid and this was .... like staying up past midnight and putting on The Film Zone channel.

I remember it better, with more "spice" if you can say, but it's a game from 2004, and for the date it's still kept.

It's not a bad game, no.
It's a good game, no.
But it's a game that does its job, and I have a certain "affection" for it.

PS: I played it in Spanish, so a lot of the "double meaning" was edited out, but it's still fresh.
