Leisure Suit Larry 7 - Love for Sail

Leisure Suit Larry 7 - Love for Sail

The REAL Leisure Suit Larry 8?
Wasn't there supposed to be another Leisure Suit Larry game following 7 from Sierra?

After you finished Love for Sail there was a line that next is Larry 8: Lust in Space, later there was a rumour about Larry 8: Exploring Uranus and just now there was a leak on Steam about Larry 8: Wet Dreams Don't Dry.

that's not the Real LSL8. The Real LSL8 got canceled after Sierra changed ownership in 1999 which was Chainsaw Monday.

Al Lowe (The father of Larry) never liked it (interview on youtube) and was sad, what his franchise became. Thank god they stopped making such games and re-invented Larry more the classic way again.

Yes originally they were gonna follow this up immediately with another sequel but things got weird at Sierrra. Theres articles all over the internet speculating on what happened behind the scenes. Long story short, the Larry series got canned. The rights to the I.P. were passed around and many years later we got another game made almost entirely by a different group of people. To be fair it never had a chance. By the mid 90's this kind of humor was considered not only offensive to women, but juvenile and not worthy of most video gamers. Coupled with the success of bigger and better games, the graphic adventure (or point n click adventure) kind of died off for many years and only recently made its resurgence. But the good old days are long gone.
I miss the mid 90's. As an angry gen-x kid I dont have much nostalgia but there was a brief era in the late DOS, early Win95 days when we had some excellent video games. Mostly because devs were not afraid to experiment and take chances. We also had tons of garbage but experimenting means lots of failures to get a few successes. Good times.

By the Late 1990s, the Inventory Adventure Game Genre was in decline at the time during 1997 as Chainsaw Monday was the Final Nail in the REAL Leisure Suit Larry 8's coffin when the Sierra Oakhurst Development Offices were closed and was moved the Bellevue, 250 workers were fired & marked the end of the Golden Age of Adventure Games on February 22, 1999 due to consolidation & its Final Issue of the InterAction Magazine showcasing Homeworld.

Leisure Suit Larry never got another woman to flirt with & Roger Wilco never cleaned up another mess again.
