X-COM: Terror from the Deep

X-COM: Terror from the Deep

So... OpenXCOM fixes the bugs?
Ah, TftD... that takes me back! I played the whole XCOM-series avidly on my first PC. Including Interceptor. Ergh. Ahem. Point is, the only XCOM-game I never COMPLETED was TftD. Not because it was too tough, but because I kept hitting game-breaking bugs that made it impossible to continue. The one I remember most fiercely somehow kept me from reserching a key tech, without which I couldn't research the final flysub, which was needed to reach the final battle... so, no way to win. Far from the only bug in that game, either.

But... OpenXCOM fixes them all? Right? All the old bugs are gone, and the game runs in a stable fashion? 'cuz it would be pretty cool to finally polish off a game that so foiled me in my youth...

It should be fixed in OpenXCom.

should be fixed but, Ufopedia tells you the order you need to complete the research in order to avoid the research bugs.

I think I actually tried that once... I seem to remember it, anyway. But something ELSE went wrong and I got bugged into a corner again. :Furrowed: Still, if it's all fixed... maybe it's time for another try. I kinda' wanna see R'lyeh...

It also fixes a ton of other bugs, and makes run better on a modern system too. So no limit on the number of items you can take, gauss tanks are usable, no game ending bugs for studying stuff in the wrong order, and so on.

On top of that it also fixes the normal Xcom up, and offers a ton of modding options. For example I had tons of fun with the XPirates mod (FYI it is intend for a more mature player base so be prepared). Nothing like raiding a crackhouse and "handlehandleing" everyone for ransom.

Just remember that you need to use one of the nightly options to get TftD support. The "stable" download is rather out of date.

Can you be more precise?

Also, if I want TFTD with all bugfixes and other stuff, is Open Xcom the best thing?
Or there is bugfixes for usual TFTD?

Can I use steam version for Open Xcom?

OpenXCOM will run both XCOM: Ufo Defense (aka: UFO: Enemy Unknown), and XCOM: Terror from the Deep, provided you use one of the nightly builds.

The 1.0 build ('stable' build) is getting quite old, and only supported the first game. ..even though the nightly's aren't 'stable' I've yet to find any fault with it, on either Mac of PC. ..certainly it works better than the original commercial releases did. They were great, but had a lot of bugs. And under OpenXCOM you get higher screen resolutions, mouse wheel support, and so many little usability tweaks to the UI, while still allowing you it to play just like the original. Excellent.
