I might pick it up and just copy it over if that is the case. why emulate when you can be frustrated by the real thing? i have the hardware that is emulated; I imagine it'll work OK as far as being compatible for the system type it was written for.
It's the whole "made different so it doesn't work quite as badly in an emulation on an OS released 20+ years later" that has me worried.
Well, the only real issue with DOS box is the funky window size and issues when you switch between full screen with alt+enter with it. Otherwise, it's just the same as DOS. Both of them suffer from huge framing issues due to smoke/fire/map. I am also pretty sure OPENXCOM fixes some research bugs that were still left on X-COM gold.

The website of the guys who made openxcom say that it was made for the original game only... where did you get the instructions to make it work with terror from the deep?5
Yea sorry everyone ignore me just install XCOM and/or TFTD from steam or GOG AND then download the latest EXE file (nightly) and just run it, it is an automatic installer... man, what a labour of love for a 20+ year old game, gotta give these guys some credit... I played but never beat the original as a kid, finally beat it a couple years ago and now I want to try TFTD before moving on to the later games (I heard that the third original game isn't great, so I was planing to just skip it, particularly as there is no OpenXcom version...
It had an amazing, fully destructible city, destructible buildings in tactical view, a diplomacy / relation system with over a dozen organizations and more.
Tryingt o play this game from steam and want to stream it. I keep hearing about alll these ways to run it properly but im not quite understanding.
i downloaded the game from steam. When you say download the latest exe file from nightly, what does that mean?
