How 2 Artefact Site
Step 1: Kill all the aliens on the top level (or get to the elevator, whatever floats the boat).

Step 2: Hide in elevator shafts for 100+ turns.

Step 3: Reaction fire aliens as they come up the shaft.

Step 4: Have a LOT of patience.

Step 5: Go down the lift and kill the last few aliens because you get fed up.

Step 6: Roll in your mountain of loot.

I've found I still get hit with mind control even when all my guys are on the top floor of the exit area.

Aliens can MC you anywhere and they have a "memory" of your last know position for several turns.
The aliens also know exactly where you are after turn 20, I believe.

I thought the 20 turn reveal was only in the first game, not TFD. But what you said about their memory does explain a lot. I was wondering how they were hitting me up there.

TFTD is supposed to be the harder version, why would they take it out? XD

Because in the first game, after turn 20 most of the aliens would rush out of their UFO, allowing you to set up an ambush and slaughter them with reaction fire. In this game, they stay in the UFO and force you clear them out.

They tend to not all rush out, not even in the first game...

I just finished beating the first game after over 100 hours on it. Trust me, they do. Only the highest ranking aliens, the leaders and commanders, will stay usually stay in. Everyone else usually rushes out

You just contradicted yourself...

The aliens have a stat which tells them if they should stay put or chase down humans. High ranking aliens are coded to hunker down more while the low level ones are a bit reckless and will bumrush any know traget.

Also if an alien spots even one of your guys they know where all of them are for that turn.

LOL that makes the game harder, not easier. If you have to try to advance to the bridge when they have vision, you are relying on luck that their launchers explode on them.

Both games are the EXACT same under the hood, that means TFTD enemies get full vision of the entire map and your Aquanauts after 20 turns. All TFTD is, is a repainted version of the OG x-com....the tanks and weapons may be different looks wise but they have nearly identical stats between both games.
