Research
HI all

Is there a definitave guide on what should be researched in what order? I am finding myself stumped on what to do next. Should I have done the Aquagtoid corpse and live Aquatoid first?

For armor you'll want
Deep one corpse -> Aqua Plastics -> Plastic Aqua Armor -> Ion-Beam Accelerator -> Live Deep One -> Ion Armor -> Magnetic Ion Armor

For transmission resolver, you need magnetic navigation -> transmission resolver

Sub construction needs the item sub construction (you get it from USO's), Zrbite and Transmission resolver researched. To avoid it glitching, ensure you have it prior to researching both prerequisites.

For subs and beating the game, you want the above + Zrbite, then alien orgins (needs a live alien), alien sub construction -> manta -> hammerhead -> leviathan and The Ultimate threat (this needs lobsterman navigator or commander to unlock) and then finally T'leth (which needs lobster man commander)

Try not to stray from this research order. Do not research live deep one before you got the others following it. If you don't have XcomUtil or OpenXcom installed, research can glitch out if you research things in the wrong order. If you have XcomUtil, it comes with a feature to fix the research issues, so order isn't a problem. I'd highly recommend it.

The order should be Armor -> Subs -> T'Leth

You can play it just fine without openxcom, no need to spam that link in every thread here

Leave policing to the moderators! I posted because its easy way to play the game without the bugs that plagued one of my fave games of all time.

its open source and fixes issues, if you think you can play the game just fine using vanilla you're foolsh and doing a great disservice to any fans of the game.... been playing the game since it came out and it does not play fine given that it always has had crippling bugs, I find it rather amusing you think TFTD was just fine as vanilla, you obviously never played it before the dawn of the internet.

I guess that is a negative thing in your eyes, an open source version that uses the data files of TFTD to eliminate and add more options to a classic.

FYI I will post the link to anyone complaining about issues with the vanilla version of the game as its a way to fully enjoy it without these issues. If you got a problem with that then disregard my posts.

I'm sorry if openxcom negates the need for your guide.

You're assuming a lot of things. I said the game is playable without openxcom, because it is. I've played it both with and without fixes. Is it better with fixes ? Of course, I never said otherwise.

And no, I never said openxcom was a bad thing, please stop putting words in my mouth. I merely said there's no need to post the same link in every thread here, it's pretty excessive to force it on everyone posting here. This forum moves pretty slow as is, so it's not like your thread will get pushed back far enough for it to not be visible.

Hell, I even mentioned, in my post just above yours, that openxcom was also an option to fix things if they didn't want to deal with specific research paths.

So please, calm down.

Here, I'll even quote it for you

no need to be pretentious about me linking people to a way to easily fix their problems.

I mean if that makes you feel useful you can still rewrite detailed guides over and over again on reseach bug avoidance.... unlike you I'm not gonna try and tell you what you can and cannot do.

you'd think after probably 1000 of hours you'd just be happy TFTD got the data fixes to make 1.0 vastly more playable and to shine.....

cheers from a big TFTD fan to the next.
What is your problem? Once again, all I said was that linking your thread in every single thread made was incredibly excessive and honestly borderline spamming.
Nothing about fixes being bad.
Nothing about making guides.
Nothing about feeling useful or whatever.

Please stop with the assumptions.

I never said openxcom or bug fixes were bad.

Stop telling me to do stuff, if you cant tell by now IDGAF what you are saying or want me to do.

I'll assume whatever i want and you can't stop me from doing so, i assumed you're pretentious for making a mountain out of a molehill and trying to police steam... if its spammin report as such and leave it at that... griefing me because i consolidated a bunch of problem threads. Huh? Whats the point if you're not looking for a fight why are you concerned about what im doing? Does it hurt your eyes?

Thats about as nice i can be to you, brother.
You mean exactly what you're doing ? Telling someone there's no need to spam isn't policing steam btw, it's a friendly reminder.
And I'm not griefing you. You're the only one that has been hostile by assuming a bunch of things and having quite the attitude in general.

Friendly reminder. Ya thanks.

Ufopaedia is your friend. Or just run OpenXCOM and try different projects, becasue with OpenXCOM you can't get locked out of research topics forever. It's also better in nearly every way.
