Port forwarding:
27015: Required for steam clients to read server information
7777-7779: Allows people to connect to your game server
Here is a sample line for the .bat used to start the server:
start ""/NORMAL "C:\SteamCMD\fearthenight\Moonlight\Binaries\Win64\MoonlightServer.exe""/Game/Moonlight/Moonlight/Content/Moonlight/Maps/Pittsburgh_Overworld?listen?Port=xxxx?SessionName=MYSERVERNAME?QueryPort=xxxxx?MaxPlayers=xx?-servergamelog -nosteamclient -game -server -log
If I do have to use the regular client can I get the server going, exit out of the game then go onto a different computer and join the server?
It depends how you are wanting to play. Do you want to play on a separate machine and run the server on another machine? Or just do both on one machine?
So steam cmd or?
What will I put to QueryPort?
have you created your dedicated server?
I ask because I am not going to set up a bloody server just to play solo even tho it looks easy enough to do anyway hehe
Go ahead and set it up. You will not know the difference and the game itself is really good for the stage it is in. Just give them time to sort things. Even the big AAA game companies have rough launches and those are completed games.
