Didn't get achievement "Fine I Won't Open It"

I started a new game+ run. At the very first shop portal, I checked the closet until he told an unskipable story about using goals to defer happiness into the future and whatnot, but didn't get the achievement. And the dialogue then loops. I did the very same thing in the 2nd shop portal, still no achievement. For reference, I then talked to the voodoo mask and accepted The Deal, and got an achievement for that. Then beat the Quill Queen and got an achievement for that too before the run ended when I fell in Sky Ruins.

Is New Game+ not allowed for this? Do I have to do a bog-standard restart? Including for the other 2 achievements where you make the shopkeeper rant?

UPDATE: On the same new game+ run, I was able to get the other two unskipable rant achievements, but never got "Fine I Won't Open It" regardless of other times I tried it.

I then made a plain new game, checked the closet repeatedly at the very first shop portal, then got the achievement finally! What gives?

I wonder if the voodoo mask being in the shop on new game+ somehow screws with it?

Yep, there was a bug when the Altar was there and this achievement. Will be fix in the next update we do.

at my date, still not fixed. no problem for me since i know that i can obtain it in simple new game ;)

4.5 years later and I'm still getting this bug. I guess it's not getting fixed, but not a big deal since apparently you can still get the achievement with a plain game. FYI, I was able to get the second lecture achievement on new game+
