The Second Half...
Let me say this, I love Metroidvania's, but they are only as strong as their ability to quickly get you around the map without you feeling like you have wasted your time.

This wasn't a huge problem when the genre first started, as the maps just weren't that big, so a well few placed shortcuts could easily speed things up.

However, with more modern games in the genre, the maps have become bigger and with that, a few shortcuts just doesn't do it anymore.

From what I gather, you have a total of like 6 places you can warp to from the HQ and in a map as large as this game, that ends up requiring a TON of backtracking if you want to get everything. Obviously, getting everything is optional, but even just sticking to the story, in my opinion, too much backtracking is still required.

The obvious fix and one they could implement (I'm aware the development is done and this won't happen) could have been to allow the player to teleport to all checkpoints, or at least, all checkpoints with the shopkeepers door.

I don't want the game easier, but I hate wasting my time and I was having so much fun with this game and now about an hour into the second half, my morale to keep playing is steadily dropping the more and more I backtrack. Just going from HQ -> Village -> Ogres and back was long and tedious, especially since I didn't know what I needed to do at first.

Rant over, lol. It's okay if you don't agree and if you like the game and even the second half, that's awesome! I just hated that the second half basically makes me want to stop playing the game :/

TLDR; Not a fan of the fast travel system in the second half, think it could have been expanded to cut down on backtracking.

I understand you completely OP. I still adore the game but this was one of the cons I found it had. There is a ton of backtracking. Isn't so bad when you know how to zip-zoom your way around after awhile, but not everyone would want to do that.

I agree with you. I really enjoy the first part, discovering the world ect ect...
But then, just back tracking in all the map I already done to find gems, nope , no thanks.

I totally understand but I also disagree. I feel like it is part of the game to get better at traversing each area and using new upgrades to see how fast you can get through previous areas. It makes me feel like I'm doing some sort of parkour challenge. It is kind of annoying in the DLC though since you can only teleport to the beginning of each area.

I don't totally disagree with you there. It definitely feels nice at first to see how you're not upgraded character can traverse those older areas much quicker, but for me, that too got boring after awhile.

I ended up using a guide in order to give me the quickest and most efficient path, I just wish that didn't feel like it was necessary.

I feel the same way with you here. First act was fine. Second act, they lost me. I stumbled in finding the first music note, then I gave up and looked up a guide for the next one. This guide was meant to be "best route" for speedrunners. I found it hilarious how slow this method was!

Every step was a LONG and arduous run to each objective, with extremely cryptic clues. They even make you pay for the clues if you don't understand them and put a marker on the map.

The game is great, and the story very funny. But making a joke and then making the joke a reality is not fun. Yes, there are new places to explore, but they are all so out of the way to reach them. It's nearly pointless to even have portals to take you to the zone.
