Does It Get Better?
So I played up to the big twist, and left off last right when the game opens up before actually doing any exploring. I really enjoy the game's sense of humor, and I'm seeing some neat ideas here and there like cloudstepping and the grapple claw, but overall I'm not really satisfied by the actual gameplay. Bosses don't feel terribly satisfying to me, regular in-stage enemies are uninspired and annoying, and the slow as molasses glide is the worst feeling movement ability I've ever unlocked in a video game. Thanks to the grapple and cloud step rooms I traverse from bottom to top are a blast, as I can skip areas and fly through them utilizing cloud step, but left-right movement is often a chore and anything I'm expected to glide down is outright frustrating not because of difficulty but because of how slow the glide is.

I guess what I'm looking for is this: Are there any other movement abilities unlocked post-twist that help with any of this? And are there satisfying puzzles in the exploration part of the game I haven't really started yet that make up for the boring regular enemies? The grapple is great, but a dash I can use anywhere or even a faster jump would solve a lot of my problems.

I'm hoping there's a positive answer to this, I had really high hopes for this game and really did want to like it. Unfortunately the opening up to the twist just . . . well, it had enough of a mix of good ideas and things I didn't like that at worst I'd say it's average, but so average that whenever the thought of playing it came up I'd just wander off and do something else instead. That's the main reason I haven't started the exploration part, I need some kind of motivation to actually play the game again.

The enemies don't change drastically, but the configurations, quantity, and addition of other platforming obstacles make the back half of the game more challenging and fun. It doesn't get super difficult, but I think it does pick up. No other major movement abilities -- but by utilizing cloud jumps off enemy projectiles and rope darting through torches or enemies you can zip through most screens incredibly fast with just a bit of practice.

No. It doesn't.

You don't get more movement abilities, effectively. There's one but it's situational and doesn't increase your speed any.

The puzzles from this point onward aren't satisfying either.

Nope, once you have all movement abilities the game reaches its peak. The difficulty does not increase from there and the bosses are fewer and easier.

I really wanted a dash too but after a while I got used to moving around with the hook because at least the layout of the levels does not go back to being so flat and sparce so you can cover distance quickly.

There are a few areas left which are pretty good with new gimmicks but gaining access to them requires a fair amount of backtracking so idk if it's worth it for you

The extremely tight platforming should be enough unless you dont like platformers.

Then we got the ost, dear sweet mercy and a bunch of other things.

I had the same question. So many people like and prais the game, so i bought it.
like it and the Twist is funny.
But i expectet much more. Its also not a hard game. WHen you know what to do its easy.
Execution is no challange and i thought the fight has a more important role in the game.
Punch and jump, thats all i can think of.
Its charming and i see why people like it.

I saw this mentioned somewhere else, and I totally agree, that the games easyness by-and-large stems from the huge number of save points. Any time you die or even get low health, you just respawn a room or two back, or get a few extra HP after passing every save, keeping you topped off. Many other games with less frequent save-points don't get the same flak for easyness because they are more frustrating and much easier to die in. Another major factor is that spikes and many traps only do a few hp of dmg -- not like many games that kill you outright.
