Leaf Monster - Difficulty: Pathetic - He's way too easy, attacks too slowly, and is barely a threat. For the first boss, he's passable; but I think he needed a bit more attacks.
Ruxxtin - Difficulty: Average - Well designed, fun, and interesting to fight. This is a solid boss battle.
Emerald Golem - Difficulty: Average - Again, not bad; though the second phase is a lot more annoying; since if you don't have the air slash, all you can do is spam shurikens.
Queen of Quills - Difficulty: Above Average - This fight threw me for a loop for a while. It's much harder then the others; but to their credit; it matches her lore. Once you learn her pattern, she's a lot of fun to fight.
Colos and Sules - Difficulty: Average - This fight is split in two; with the two bosses having the opposite strengths. One is immune to damage while attacking, the other is immune to damage while walking. Etc. Lots of fun to learn, the tag team mechanic was interesting; overall lots of fun.
Timekeeper - Difficulty: Easy - This fight took me a while the first time; but once you learn his pattern; it's super easy to take advantage of his weakspots and pressure him. You will easily kill him while barely taking damage.
Sky Serpent - Difficulty: Difficult to a fault - This fight was the one that gave me the most issues. Primarily because he can destroy the floor; and while you can use the Sky slash to bounce on him; if you get hit at all; you get stunlocked and will likely fall off the cliff. It leads to a lot of frustration to constantly have to refight the boss due to knockback stun.
Barma'thazel - Difficulty: Difficult to a fault - Barma is way too fast for the mobility in this game. He'll often use his dash slash and he's pretty much unavoidable unless you're already moving when he uses it. His attack pattern is way too fast; and often leads to unavoidable damage, and due to how rapidly he moves, you often just have to take damage with no way to avoid or counter it.
Butterfly/Bat Matriarch - Difficulty: CHEAP - Easy boss, that's made hard solely due to his attacks reversing your controls. If this was removed; he would be pathetically easy. The artificial difficulty of reversing your controls can lead to cheap unavoidable deaths, caused solely due to a simple positioning mistake. And you can't just stand on the platform and wait for it to wear off; because he'll hit you and knock you off the platform if you don't move.
Clockwork Concierge - Difficult: Average - The shooter style makes this a very fun boss battle; leading to a lot of strategy and careful play. It's pretty good with no major flaws.
Demon King - Difficulty: Average - He has a lot of attacks; but he's not terribly difficult. His attacks are telegraphed well, and you can easily respond, react and counter them if you play well. Overall, a great boss.
The Abomination - Difficulty: PUNCH TO THE BALLS - This "Boss" is more or less designed to force players to lose a life or two; because the entire sequence requires you to be perfect in order to escape. In the normal game; where you have infinite lives; this is fine, but when it comes to New Game +? This boss could easily be the most common causes of Game Over. The only way to win is to memorize the entire sequence. One mistake, and you die; try again.
The Phantom - Difficulty: Above Average - Fun, well designed, uses pretty much all mechanics; this boss was a pleasure to fight.
Overall, there are 4 bosses that cause a problem. The Sky Serpent and Butterfly/Bat Matriarch (due to cheap kills), Barma (for being way too fast), and the Abomination (for expecting the player to be flawless in a sequence they might not know). Everyone else is at least passable, except maybe the first boss who is too easy.
Yeah, that seems pretty much on the money
This one haves a trick, the platforms you see when she throws her dust are there since the beginning of the battle, you can jump over them and kill her faster, you just need to remember the position for the next run
Well, that's useful during the fight if you've already done it; but for the first time you fight the boss; it still feels cheap; and considering the situation; it feels like the intended way to do it is to wait for it. So even though you can cheese it if you already know where the platforms are; that only lowers the difficult on repeated attempts. It doesn't change the fact that the boss reversing your controls for a simple mistake is still unfair.
I like the look of Messenger but if bosses are similar, help me save some time and skip buying and refunding altogether.
Honestly; the bosses are tough on a first run, but with enough practice and learning the movesets; they are all manageable. There is only a couple of bosses that are downright cheap.
True fact; but it still would've been nice if they could've picked a more interesting challenge then reversing your controls. That always feels kinda cheap.
