Should I always recruit Legacy Heroes?
Is there any reason to spend LP to recruit a brand new farmer hero?

Or, should I always recruit Legacy Heroes instead of new heroes, to increase their legacy rank?

This question doesn't really have a right answer. Recruiting a legacy hero costs a little more LP, but the benefit should be worth it, since you get a higher level hero to join your party.

On the other hand, sometimes it is fun to add a new character to your roster. If I like how they look and their personality seems interesting, I'll recruit a new one. You also might not find the legacy heroes you are offered fit your current party.

pretty much always, if you want new "farmer" heroes then start a new campaign and depending on which one you start will give you one or two as you can't select legacy heroes there. afterwards continue with legacy.

or go with the farmer option if the name sounds great, that's how I do it

I took a farmer yesterday because my two big warriors retired, and then I immediately clicked a wrong tile and my third warrior died for it. After warrior 3 died, I fought my way to the next recruitment banner and it offered a pile of hunters. I already had five hunters because this had kept happening. Man that was a weird run, poison bottles flying everywhere, burned into my eyeballs. So yeah anyways I took the farmer warrior and crafted him some gear, back in business, hooray.

I also sometimes just take the farmer because I like their looks/name. Looks like this is pretty normal!
