My opinion is to get it. It's a unique game that pretends to be a storyteller. Or is it a storyteller that pretends to be a game?

The 2D paper cutout style is both very beautiful and very forgiving on old potatoes like my laptop. The game generates a story for your characters to go through and your actions will impact how that story will change and the world around you.

You can create unique characters using face, hair, and body tiles, and then selecting the colour for each part of it. The characters themselves have personality traits that allow them to interact differently with each other, as well as the world around them as well.

There are some small caveats I want to warn you about though.

First of all, your characters will age and will one day grow too old to fight so you need to recruit replacements and train them. Recruitment also comes in handy since your character could be maimed or even die (the latter of which I'll touch on later).

The enemies you fight (an assortment of monsters and wild beasts) will become stronger over time as well. If you do not keep up with getting better gear and improving your heroes abilities, the story will end once the last town (of which your heroes have sworn to defend) is overrun. I wish there was a slider scale to adjust the enemy strength like "Star Traders: Frontiers" has. I'm going to offer that as a feedback suggestion after I finish this.

As I said earlier, your characters could die in battle and you're going to discover, unlike other games you might have played, it's going to really hurt. This game's best selling feature is as your characters progress along, grow, and age, you're going to become attached to them in an in-game way.

I'd get it at the sale price it is at now. ̶O̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶$̶3̶0̶ Nearly $30 (with taxes included, yes that's something devs cannot control) at the regular price is a little on the high side when compared to other games I've purchased like "Star Traders: Frontiers" that offer the same journeyman experience, character customization, and organic evolution of the game world but is cheaper.

Hope this helps. Like I said at the beginning, it's a really good game.

Thanks a lot for huge info , first of all. It could be interesting , too bad the discount is not higher.

For the current price, you need to play the introduction campaign and at least one five chapters campaign (around 32 hours of gameplay, assuming one chapter take 4 hours to complete). Wildermyth is a tactical role playing game with strong storytelling. Decisions you make in Wildermyth are quite impactful to your heroes. The overworld map is randomized every time you play a campaign. You develop legacy heroes across several campaigns.

Wildermyth has 5 premade campaigns for you to enjoy plus you can play generic campaign.

Therefore Wildermyth is a good game.

Just to clarify, the regular non-sale price is currently $24.99 (I'm assuming you meant over $20?)

I meant to say nearly $30 (as in with taxes included, yes that's something devs cannot control). I'll amend that with my apologies offered.

I forgot to mention the figure I mentioned was in Canadian dollars, not US.

I would add, there’s 5 campaigns and some generic procedurally built ones that cycle through various stories. I’d very much recommend mixing in a generic campaign or two in between the preset campaigns. Mostly for longevity so there’s always something to look forward to for awhile.

Just one run of each and one or two runs of generic campaigns between each main one should be enough to argue you got your value from the current price. It’s quite addicting once you’ve played awhile. Very much something you’ll like if you enjoy DnD type games. Not DnD based at all mind you, but still an excellent game for what it is.

It is a harder game than the art style would lead you to believe, so keep that in mind when you fire it up.

I don't think this is a title which anyone would put 1,000 hours in, but there is a ton of replayability here and the way characters are managed, where you can bring in characters which have 'won' previous stories is very nice. You can finish a 3 chapter campaign in an evening of play, which is unusual for this genre too.

The price point is about right. It isn't worth more than what they're asking, but I bought it at full price and it's worth what I paid IMO. It's a wonderful deal if you're picking it up on sale.

Buy right now and enjoy every minute of the gameplay

TBH I was a little afraid of the sensible negative reviews I've seen (game being too easy, repetitive etc.) as I'm a rather "hardcore" player but so far it;s worth it (and it's harder than a bunch of games that pose as hard). Sure it's no GOTY but an okay title to play for a bunch of hours. There are also some bugs here and there but guess it'll be fixed.

I uninstalled this game. 😒

... because I couldn't stop playing. 😖

So yeah, it's good.

I recommend playing on a mode that's easy enough that you don't get bored by fights but still manage to win them -- and most of them without casualties. If you go through too many characters, you'll stop caring for them. If you keep having to restart a campaign, the events will start to repeat, and the storytelling aspect (more important in this game, I think, than the tactical aspect) will wither.

One of my very first characters, Badyia fell in love with a ranger maned Wurgur Cope. Over the years he has slowly transformed into a wolf. Their children have fought beside them, watching them grow old and retire. Their grandchildren have entered the fray. My legacy characters are filled with the Cope Children, many who can grant Wolfcall to their allies. This game makes you care about your characters in a way I have NEVER seen before, & that alone makes it great.

TBF most characters start looking pretty bizarre after a few campaigns. It's the rule, not the exception. You want to get that fire arm when you have the option because it is a huge combat advantage, but then after you take enough of these things you wind up with this odd looking crew - my last party had a guy whose arms were fire, another one whose arms were stone, another one with a massive bird head and wings. There was another one whose oddity I can't remember... it's like the adventures take place near Chernobyl.

Just in case you need more motivation, you should get it. It's actually one of the few games I've gotten in recent years that I got at full price without any regret. I will say that some of the positive reviews do overhype the game, so try to take them with a grain of salt. That said though, it's a game that's totally worth your time.

If you like the idea of table top but with a random generated dungeon master, then this is pretty good buy. Since its a game, the RP isnt as robust but so far the random events and storytelling still feel like a dnd campaign.

Yes, it's the best video game ever made. You have not experienced life until you played this game.
