Hidden Characters

I unlocked Wu Wonfu and the Yumemi Team (the former apparently by winning 5 Endless Matches and the latter from beating the game once), but have yet to unlock any hidden characters. I've just beat the game with Kazaoka's Team (Kirisame) and had beaten the game with the Legend team on launch day.

I believe that hidden characters are unlocked by beating the game once with the original teams, which means that there is probably a total of 25 Team Edit only characters.

I'll try and confirm that once I beat the game with the new teams, then start with Kunio's team.

What a grind! I've already beaten the game with 15 different teams and haven't unlocked any character except the ones you mentioned. What gives...?

Nice clue, I didn't know there are more teams to unlock.

By the way, I just unlocked Toru and Bob (hockey dudes) by beating easy mode with Yurigaoka Girls.

UPDATE:
-easy mode with Historical Drama team unlocks Jinroku, Torazo, Sankichi and Nedachi
-easy mode with Japan All Stars unlocks Toraichi and Toraji (without masks)

/Tobioka CC (easy) doesn't unlock anything.

yamato on Twitter (assuming he is the same person who posted the screenshot on the hub) confirmed that you need to complete Single Play on any difficulty with a combination of teams to unlock characters.

Someone else confirmed that 5 wins in Endless unlocks the Wu Wonfu team and 10 wins unlocks Munakata. Matsudo in his school uniform is apparently not unlockable.

An example is completing the game with Kirisame, Meian, Hattori, and the Reihou teams, which will unlock a group of characters that first appeared in the Downtown Nekketsu Baseball game on the Super Famicom.

Not only that, but the specific combinations to unlock each character are actually listed in the game manual

(By the way, Munakata can also be unlocked by beating Single Play with each team)
