For what reason this game was abandoned?

This game was a very good project...why they abandoned it?

I'm not following their discord so take this well-salted, but my understanding of what went wrong:

1. It was far too big of a project for an indie team, especially for never having had any successful completions.

2. An important entity related to this game went AWOL on the devs, and production stopped because this entity's approval was needed. Could be related to a copyright issue? Possibly a large portion of Realms Beyond's funding was taken with this entity's exit?

3. Devs ran out of money... the team was probably not too well-managed.

It's all very unfortunate but those of us following/backing the project have certainly learned some (hard) lessons.

The real question is, why do these new threads keep popping up when you can just look at any of the other threads answering the same question

Hop on the Discord for like 5 min then you can leave the channel for good, you'll fully realize the game is done, the steam page for this game should be completely shot with a disintegration bolt and taken out of existence and any webpage they have when googled should be shut down

What I don't understand is.. like what are those screenshots of. It looks playable. Release a demo independently, get traction, get funding to complete after proof of interest, reboot project. I'd understand if there was nothing, but that ♥♥♥♥ looks like a game, more than others ive seen that have failed.

The non missing in action Dev can't use the assets without the ok from the other Dev who seems to be missing in action or out of the loop or something like that, the games not happening I wish they would just get rid of the whole Steam page

Color me wrong, if you can, I'll be only happy and apologize...

...but this is the same developer as with the Chaos Chronicles, and he's onto a new project soon...
And all the money from the backers gone.

I mean, I know that corporations are sometimes horrible to deal with, and I feel for all the righteouss and passionate developers getting trashed sometimes, but here... something stinks in a completely different way.

If they try to do another project and get funding there's still gonna be a ton of marks(wrestling term) that'll fall into the trap and lay their cc or paypal down, it's just the sad reality, only time will tell.

Or something where after a certain amount of times pages get automatically taken down. Like two years of no developer activity. I

That is not even possible. They finally went through the court systems and declared insolvency for Ceres Games. Shortly after, with no really warning or notification, the Discord was closed. Their forums are closed and there is no way to reach the remaining developers.

Hobs and the other one could have at least invited all the backers to a new Discord. They had a lot of talk about continuing development using the games engine, which Hobs owned, and making or buying pre fab assets to make a new game.

But it seems that is not going to happen and they have ghosted us all. So, unless they plan on coming back later I assume that the any new iteration of the project is probably not going to happen. And all I got for my backing of the game and later on upping my pledge for the collectors box set was the combat beta. Which, while a bit on the rough side, showed that they could have had something good. So, at least I got that. Kickstarter is a gamble but it all honestly this is the first one I have seen where this has happened.

I would have rather they just said nothing was going to happen if they planned on disappearing. Kickstarter allows for that as long as they let every one know. They had explained everything that had happened up to that point.

I only learned later that Realms Beyond was a second attempt at a very similar game called Chaos Chronicles. Actually almost near identical that did not make it either. When they went by the name of their previous studio. Which all people involved in Ceres Games where a part of.

I would think twice about backing or pre ordering another game by them.

Here is hoping they do follow through with their promise to continue on with the project in some form or another and give all the backers access to that iteration. I hope that Hobs (Discord name) is just taking time to reorganise and figure out what he wants to do. But I am not holding my breath at this point.
