P.S. I can play in editor mode, but still not in campaign mode
There are videos that play when you start any campaign scenario. Since you are crashing right at that moment, and you've successfully loaded scenarios outside the campaign, the videos or something related to them is the issue. The sure way to get rid of the issue is to rename the video folder, which will simply prevent the game from finding them and force it to skip to the game.
Right click the game in your steam library>properties>Local files tab>browse local files. Then rename the anim folder to anim.troubleshoot (or anything different). The videos contain historic/background clips, nothing important to game mechanics. It's a lame, brute force kind of solution, but the one I'm most sure will let you enjoy the game. I've tried this and the game works fine without the videos, but you will notice some delay where they would have played.
After you try that, I would try to see if you can get the videos to work by running the game in windowed mode, or by playing with your windows resolution or other settings. The in game option menu doesn't show up until you're already in a scenario, but you can load a scenario outside the campain to try windowed mode first. The only downside there is losing edge scrolling and immersion. 1024x768 and 16 bit color is RRT's default if you want to try the route of changing resolution/color depth. Lastly, you can go into the settings for your video card and disable hardware acceleration, or play with other settings to see if you can get it to work.
Good luck. I'm sure at least one of these solutions will get you the ability to play. :)
Works ok, except that audio does not work.
Anyone had similar issue with not getting any audio out?
