Railroad Tycoon 2: Platinum

old fan made scenarios
Hey there....I used to have downloaded loads of fan made scenarios, particularly one involving linking up Canada by rail. Any idea if those will work with the Steam purchase? I assume download them if the pages are still around and install in the correct folder? Has anyone tried this?

The game comes with a bunch of scenarios, so I think any you want to load into that directory should work, yes. I've never had that problem with Steam and older games - like some of my ancient Rollercoaster Tycoon saves still worked with the Steam version of the game.

The Gold Edition of RRT2 used to come packaged with dozens of fan-made scenarios. It seems the Steam release doesn't have these but they are probably all available for download through the Terminal (your 2nd link). Some I played and can recommend:

- Lion of Africa: Quite easy if you start within the English territories (around Khartoum), very challenging if you start on German colonies (around Dar es Salaam)

- Flying Scotsman: Themed around connecting London to Edinburgh. Limit here is the amount of track you can lay so you have to stay focused. I'd honestly avoid the 'fixed' version on the Terminal as it gives more track.

- That Toddlin' Town: A scenario in the region of Chicago with some excellent scripting.

- Cascadia: I think this has a reputation of being one of the greatest and most challenging scenarios created for RRT2. Heavily scripted and very hard.

Vorwohle - Emmerthaler Eisenbahn: If you want to try something completely different. Here you have to make deliveries along a rural branchline with a single locomotive. Shows how versatile this game and its editor can be.

Follow up question: what is the file structure I am looking for in order to add in these downloads? I can't seem to find it?

Thanks...

I've been trying to download maps from The Terminal for ages and it never works. I always get some stupid 0kb file with their domain name. Logged in or not. Been trying to find a 100% map archive of maps from the site but haven't yet found that, either.

You can download them through the forum. Here's a direct link:

Matt, do you have a problem with locating your Steam directory or with where to put the maps inside the RRT2 directory? If the latter they simply go into 'maps' directory where the campaign maps are located, too.

Hey there......thanks.

I can't even find the folder structure...I have no idea where the game has been downloaded to. I cannot locate it like other games from Steam. I suppose I could search the .exe....

For me it's at the same place as other Steam games:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum\maps

They need a steam workshop for this game. I got RRTC2 Platinum on Steam and Gog.com I got it mainly because of workshop and because it was on sale dirt dirt cheap! RRTC2 Is the only one I think that's any good! Better than the originals by sid meir and the 3rd one. BAR NONE!

i agree. other than some neccesary balancing in cargo demand, this was one of the best. still is one of the best. im sad they didnt do as successful in railroad tycoon 3 and had cut alot of corners just to add 3d effects. everything gotten so much smaller scaled and simpler. it wasnt as much fun.
