Any suggestions on laying track?
I find it annoying that you cannot plan out your track before paying for it. One of the problems is that you cannot set a station until the track is there. You have to try to determine where you need to get the track to so you can place a station that "gets" the buildings or businesses you want covered.

Often enough I have to pay to remove track I paid to lay just to get it to line up with where I want the station.

Any suggestions?

only through experience you will learn that, station and big station is *2 size. ( require free space at each side to upgrade to big stations, so it can be a issue later or use bigstation from start.

and if you pause the game you can take right station to hover over city and see where it fit best, but train track angle is also vital + ( try stay as much near center of town name -+1 square from center, if other popup industri can happend so you cover it already, but it is also recommend use track lay plot to see if track can get through town ( require hold down mouse button ) and nothing prevent you from save game in a new save as track test plan if you miss click mouse,

dont forget G (grid) key if its in the hills moutain is very expensive to lay track in a mistake we make.

also 8,9,0 key is good to use

8 » Overview - Grades
9 » Overview - Traffic Density
0 » Overview - Track Owner

other vital info grade is lesser importen if you make to many turns, trains will slow down in curves, so train length also a issue with angle so angle 2 degreas is nothing 4 can be bad depend on train again, its complex issue depend on engine selection ( trains in speed while fly over little 2 grades as it was 0 grades )

Also, in the continuous track laying mode you can price the length of track as long as you hold the mouse button down... then take the cursor to the minimap and all will disappear, allowing you to release the mouse button without actually laying the track. Just keep an eye on the lower center screen, as it tallies the total while you lay the track.

Thank you for the advice. I really wish they would remake the original first Tycoon with today's graphics and computing improvements. I liked having to set up blocks like real trains.
Also, it would be nice if you could "lay track" adding/deleting as needed and when done have to click a "purchase" button before it could be final. you don lay track in the real world accidently. You get plenty of time to plan it on paper.
Thanks again.
Sid, please remake the original!
