Newfoundland & Labrador map/Map Making
Does anyone know if anyone ever made a map for the game for the island of Newfoundland in Canada? If not, then can anyone direct me to a good resource showing one how to go about making a mostly accurate map in game of an actual region in the real world?

http://theterminal.dune2k.com/?p=rrt2-files-maps&maps=7 This site has a ton of maps, I saw a couple of Canada maps and a Nova Scotia, and I'm combing my records for the website I used to pull the topological maps from to generate new RRT2 maps. I would download the map (although one of the fun things was that any picture you could render to greyscale could be made into a map!) . I used an old Polaroid photo program to render the greyscale image, but I'm sure there are other photo-manipulation programs available. More to follow... :steamhappy:

Thanks for the help man, i found myself a Topographic map of the Island i want and have converted it to a grayscale .pcx file. But now i have no idea how to get that to open in the editor. Any help/tips?

Actually I went ahead and did a blank map of the island and mainland areas... just trying to figure out how to upload it to "The Terminal". To render from your picture all you have to do is select the Editor from the main menu, select New Map, type in the location of your .PCX file, then pick the height ratio (it defaults to 100, which works fine or you can experiment). Also, for future maps I've found basically a relief map of the world at https://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/10m-gray-earth/gray-earth-with-shaded-relief-2/

I did a map once from a Playboy centerfold, just converting from color photo to "emboss" gray-scale. Imposing mountains... :steamhappy:

Wow, thats awesome. Everytime i try to choose my PCX file for the editor using the correct path for the file it just gives me an error. Would there be any way to make it so that the island is the whole map? With a decent size? Thats what i'm looking for ideally. Though maybe i'll just have to settle i guess. Really appreciate your help though man. :D:D:D:D:D

The smaller island on the lower right? I'll see how the resolution works at that range.

The largest island, over on the far right yes :D:D:D.

You'll probably need to use the flattening tool a little bit but it's not awful. You have a blank canvas to work from. Once I figure out how to upload it. Will let you know. :steamhappy:

You are an absolute god send man. I can't thank you enough. Been getting into the old narrow gauge railway that was abandoned here in 1988, and had a real urge to be able to try and recreate it in a game. This is just awesome. I'm stoked. Hope it wasn't too much trouble for you. Wish i could pay you back haha.

No problem, didn't take long at all. I'm just glad to see others take an interest in the game. It's aged well,I think. Thank me when I can get it uploaded. (or you could send me an email addy and I could send them direct. Your call.) You can PM it through the Friends menu so you're not broadcasting it. :steamhappy:
