Terrible frame rate after 1-2 minutes in game, unplayable.

I'm trying out the demo. The game starts fine but after a minute or so, the game starts to lag terribly, like 2 fps or so. It's unplayable.
It can't be my pc, it has an nvidia RTX 2070, i9 5Ghz, 32GB memory and fast SSD. Even set at half the screen resolution and every graphics setting turned off, it's choppy as hell. I use this same pc for VR and games like X4.

I read in another post (april 10th) that the latest update broke performance a bit. Is this still the same update and are you working on improving this?

For me, the game is unplayable like this. I hope you can fix it, because I would really like to try this game as it looks like something I would like.

Not sure about demo but the main game did receive an update to the game engine. That may help as some RTX users have reported high GPU usage with older engine. Maybe yours is running too hot?

The new engine brought my temps down about 12c, but I wasnt running hot anyway. Im on a 1080Ti.

The performance is ok but for a 2D scroller it could be much better. The devs have been releasing a lot of fixes lately and they maybe working on ways to improve the new engine further. If cam is zoomed all the way out i get around 42-45fps. Which is ok but again, for a 2D game with nothing really much going on it shouldnt have any issues maintaining a high frame rate.

Edit. You should try the prologue as I believe that is still receiving updates and there is more content than demo.
