How to unlock more stores? and stuck on plant seeds. End

So I found posters in the woods, unlocked some. I'm at the mine helping him.
But there is 2 issues I can't seem to get past.

1- Plant Seeds quest/Objective.
I've planted many plants in the planters and no update.
Is there special seed I need? Can't seem to unlock more stores.
2 - Does the Apocalypse actually come? Or am I crazy lol
I read somewhere you have unlimited time, but the main menu picture makes me wonder how long till it hits. And can you keep playing after it happens?

Hey!

1- Usual issue seems to be that 5 plants need to be planted at the same time. Or are you by any chance not using soil but planters or greenhouse?
2 - Apocalypse much later in the story and yes, you can continue playing on your existing savefile even after you complete the game :)
