How to put away a tool?

I'm sorry, it seems like a very stupid question, but I can't figure this out. Once I have a baseball bat AND a pickaxe, pressing Q switches them but there seems no way to hide both, I always have one of them in hands. So agent is suspicious of me. Please help XD

UPD: same for the backpack. I just made it and I suppose agent will not like it - is there a way to take it off?

Hello there! You can open your equipment inventory to unequip them. Equipment inventory and journal share the same location.

i'm about 3 months in and they aren't searching my guy, so just unequipping it is good enough for inspections

Agent will not search your item on body until he say he will search body next time.
Normally it happen when your suspicions level rise up.
