Fun tip about Backpacks

So, just shy of 27 hours into my playtime, and I accidentally equipped a piece of food instead of eating it. Those 4 slots that require a backpack in your gear screen, they're quickslots. Don't be a dumb dumb like me after 27 hours just figuring out what that "special item that goes in those slots are".

Heh, yeah it took me a long time as well to figure those slots out as well.

how do you use the quickslots? Do the item sin there appear on your screen outside of your inventory? This would be very useful when fighting large packs. I've been frantically left clicking and consuming food Skyimg/Bioshock infinite style.

I had been using a rebound pause key to my mouse to open the inventory and eat that way in tense situations, but the hotbars bind to 1-4 when items are equipped.

Hah 18 hours and I only learned what they are for by reading this. Thanks for the tip! now I might have a use for the grenades other than accidently activating them and dropping them under my feet.

I did this as well LOL major facepalm moment! Would have made fighting a bit easier oops

Yea you are not alone, had similar issues with not knowing it was for food/drink. Now I keep the energy drink in the first slot, and food in the 2nd. When I went to the fort this last play through I brought 2 stacks of food. Definitely overkill but meh wanted that achievement of not fainting.

Also the food/drink that is stored in those slots doesn't count to your total weight.

Suggestion for the dev's how about LABEL those slots are for food/drink.. Having it say backpack didn't really give me the clue. My mouse being wonky at the right time showed me OOH I can equip food there.

I've discovered the slots like 16 hours into the game, using them mostly for energy drinks, energy bar and ofc granades

same here, i got tired of seeing them and not knowing what they were for. finally figured out i can hotbar grenades or food there. prolly needs something added in-game to hint at their purpose - it would make a good suggestion to the devs.
