Jenny can level up quick. Buy sunflower seeds as they sell for a lot. She will eventually sell the guarana seeds. You should also have a lot of other seeds from her house and yours if you searched early on which will help.
You can also rely on setting traps and sell to hunter. So you can get money to buy things as well.
Don't worry about a missing guarana plant. You will get more of them then you will ever need.
I know. But I never did that. I just collected the 20 guarana fruits and gave them to Jenny. The entire quest is then marked as finished.
I found this is faster and easier and I can use my (at that point) limited greenhouse capacity to grow something more valuable. And since you don't get any XP or something, I don't see the point in satisfying a meaningless quest sub-goal when I don't have to.
