Get 1 or straight to 2?

Wonder if they connect somehow or are completely 'stand alone'. 3 didnt strike my attention cause of the mixed reviews, seems like that one is the black sheep of the 3 titles.

I played both games for about 1 hour so far, and if you ask me they are pretty different.
And the story also does not connect as far as I understand it.

Both play different, but I prefer Beholder 2, if you wanna know my opinion.

All games in the Beholder series stand alone. Beholder 2 does have some references/callbacks to Beholder 1, but it is its own game.

Personally, I do not recommend 2. I would recommend playing 1 and then 3. The two have similar gameplay with time management and choices. Beholder 2 is a complete departure, and a bit more casual/boring than the others in the series.

according to the reviews, I shouldn't be getting the third game, but 2nd game is still highly rated at 88%
