Can't get rid of Legrand - options I thought should be open are closed

I didn't open the letter I was supposed to give to Legrand, so that option to get rid of him is off the table, however, I think the option to complete "Serve Cold" should be ready, but I can't progress.

I set Peter up with Emma, so he's still there, we're friends, and I've completed the "Debts" quest(I recommended him the organization that an email advertised - Share Your Heart, I think?) and everywhere I see that I should've gotten a book that would help me open Marco's desk(it should open the "picking lever locks" skill? I think?) for finishing it, but I just... Didn't equip that. I don't have it. I heard it can be bought on floor 12, but I'm stuck on floor 1, so can could I get there?

Also, elsewhere I read that you just have to hack Marco's terminal to find out about his issues with his dad and his money. I did that, I have the „works to get inheritance“ info in his profile, but I cannot tell it to Peter when I click the dialogue option along the lines of "Discuss getting revenge on Legrand", the only option that pops up is still "I need to think", so I don‘t know if something went wrong, or if that info I got from somewhere on the internet was wrong, or what.

I completed all other quests I found except two(the one to prank Peter – I didn‘t want to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and the one about Emma‘s children, but I don‘t think that one has any relevance to what I‘m having problems with). I was thinking whether we didn‘t have to prank Peter at least once, but if that was the case, wouldn‘t the quest to prank Marco not open at all(I found it by just talking with Peter about Marco – but I think that‘s the only way, right?)?

I did the letter quest a looong while ago, and I don‘t really want to have to reload an old save file and play the most of game again. Can someone help me somehow?

There are multiple ways to get rid of Legrand.

You stated nearly all.

You can open the desk if you choose to rob Fergusons Save with Peter Dongs money quest. That gives you another way to get rid of him.
But without that option you can't frame him with contraband.

Can't tell you why Peters Revenge doesn't work. Did you talk with Legrand about his inheritance? -> Info that he also needs money.
For me that option works, also without pranking dong at the start.

Get the 15k authority by working and get promoted without getting rid of him.
But probably you already found a workarround.

Thanks for the answer! I didn't think anyone was going to answer me, since it was unanswered for so long.

So I went and I found a workaround by now, as you said.

I had to go back to the guest about Peter needing to get money and recommend the underground clinic, then he gave me the book I needed to read to be able to open Legrand's desk. I guess he gives it to a person only if the money is found that way? I suppose.

I tried talking to Legrand about the inheritance, by the way, but he didn't want to tell me anything.

I found out about the authority later in the game too, I think I would've eventually found that out while I was trying to figure something out.
