How to save ?

Haven't found any in game save points so far, are they manual ?

Save points are manual, they are usually between 5-20 minutes of gameplay. First one is right after the first enemy encounter and cutscene. You also need savepoints to enhance your orbs (and weapons), which is mandatory.

There are something like 10 savepoints in the game, but you will use some of them multiple times.
