Onimusha: Warlords
Onimusha 2 & 3 Remastered Cancelled but we still can save the series
Dusk Golem, a very credible insider of Capcom who hit several leaks about RE2R, RE3R, RE Village and Monster Hunter for Switch, recently released a note on the status of the Onimusha series.

The note said that Capcom released the remaster of Onimusha Warlords as a test to ascertain the players' interest in the franchise. It was not expected to be a great sales success but unfortunately sales were still below expectations. Capcom planned to released remasters of Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3 as well but they were canceled due to the low sales of the remaster of Onimusha Warlords.

Unfortunately the series of games Onimusha is in a very complicated situation now but as fans that want new remasters and new games we can do our part.

Anyone who has not purchased the remaster of Onimusha Warlords please if possible buy it. It's an incredible game, the remaster that the game received is also incredible. Compare the remaster with the original version of PS2 and Xbox that you will see a big difference, Capcom really dedicated itself to this remaster.

And please if possible whoever is reading this and likes the series, recommend it on the internet and for your friends to give the remaster of Onimusha Warlords a chance. If we manage to increase the sale of the remaster of that game, we can make the remaster of Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3 be developed. If both have good sales, we may have a chance to receive a remaster of Onimusha Dawn of Dreams and/or finally a new game.

Please if possible keep this topic active and share. More people need to know this.

It all depends on us fans at the moment.

I mean, Onimusha 1 is the worst of the series. I was waiting for Onimusha 2 HD but I guess I'll just play it is PCSX2 instead.

Agreed...plus the remaster has some AWFUL cover art too, which isn't going to draw people in. They should have just released the entire franchise in a remastered collection & actually did some marketing for it.

I loved this series as did most of my friends. I have already purchased this game many times in different formats and would love the rest of the collection

sadly they didn't use Genma Onimusha, it would've done a lot better, but oh well, mind you i've never seen them say anything on the forms could also be why, maybe

This Genma Onimusha is the Xbox version with extra content (Ogre Tower and Ogre Armor)?
Have modders managed to allow us steam players to get this missing content?
Im a collector and dont like "incomplete" games, even if on sale.

Really ignorant from capcom to hold games hostage like this, buy the first that sucks or we won't release the good ones.

If they release 3 only it would sell like hotcakes and bring in a ton of money, from there they could make cool sequels to the franchise.

Onimusha 3 was basically dark souls before dark souls even existed. Dark souls sells a ton, capcon are the ones losing out on all the money they could otherwise get with an already established brand they are just let sit in the corner.
Ah damn bro. I picked this game up a few days ago and just finished it today. Searched for the sequel only to find this. What an awesome game.
Wait until you get to play Onimusha 3 and Dawn of dreams
Cmon, capcom!! best serie you have. Go for it!!!
Testing with the worse game and most base version in the series (I still like it, mind you) could not have been a good move for anyone. Now it just feels like trying to get the toothpaste back into the tube when asking for more, but I'll try and remain hopeful!
A couple of days ago, I finished Onimusha: Warlords Remastered. Despite showing its age, I still liked it, and I'm interested in playing 2, 3, and 4.

With that being said, I'd also love to see Capcom remaster or even re-release 2, 3, and 4 on current consoles and PC.
Remastering 2 and 3 wouldnt be expensive per se, problem is, they have to pay Yusaku Matsuda's family, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and of course, Jean Reno, to use their likeness again.
Capcom wont spend that much money on a niche series, we have to give them credit for at least testing the waters to see if the Onimusha fanbase grew during all these years, but sadly, it didnt.
Add to that the remaster of the original Onimusha was from the vainilla version, and they changed the OST (for legal reasons, but still), so not even all fans of the franchise bought the game...nobody even bothered to mod the original OST on the PC release.

The ironic thing is that the game that would be the cheaper to remaster, because it has 3D backgrounds and doesnt feature any famous actors, is Dawn of Dreams, but that game is the worse in the franchise, and was the game that pretty much killed it back in 2006.

Sadly, the Onimusha franchise is in the worst possible spot to make a comeback, and Capcom is already swimming in money with Resident Evil and Monster Hunter (and it is a miracle Devil May Cry 5 even exists), again, we have to give them credit for at least testing the waters by spending money on getting Takeshi Kaneshiro back for this remaster, sadly, most fans just forgot about this franchise, and there werent that many fans to begin with...

I think the most likely scenario is a complete reboot of the franshie on the RE engine, but that would mean no Samanosuke, no Jubei, no Jaques, and none of the charm from the Sengoku setting, the historic figures, and more than likely, completely new gameplay mechanics, and if they were to do that, what would be the point of even calling it "Onimusha"?
