Agreed...plus the remaster has some AWFUL cover art too, which isn't going to draw people in. They should have just released the entire franchise in a remastered collection & actually did some marketing for it.
This Genma Onimusha is the Xbox version with extra content (Ogre Tower and Ogre Armor)?
Have modders managed to allow us steam players to get this missing content?
Im a collector and dont like "incomplete" games, even if on sale.
Really ignorant from capcom to hold games hostage like this, buy the first that sucks or we won't release the good ones.
If they release 3 only it would sell like hotcakes and bring in a ton of money, from there they could make cool sequels to the franchise.
Onimusha 3 was basically dark souls before dark souls even existed. Dark souls sells a ton, capcon are the ones losing out on all the money they could otherwise get with an already established brand they are just let sit in the corner.
With that being said, I'd also love to see Capcom remaster or even re-release 2, 3, and 4 on current consoles and PC.
Capcom wont spend that much money on a niche series, we have to give them credit for at least testing the waters to see if the Onimusha fanbase grew during all these years, but sadly, it didnt.
Add to that the remaster of the original Onimusha was from the vainilla version, and they changed the OST (for legal reasons, but still), so not even all fans of the franchise bought the game...nobody even bothered to mod the original OST on the PC release.
The ironic thing is that the game that would be the cheaper to remaster, because it has 3D backgrounds and doesnt feature any famous actors, is Dawn of Dreams, but that game is the worse in the franchise, and was the game that pretty much killed it back in 2006.
Sadly, the Onimusha franchise is in the worst possible spot to make a comeback, and Capcom is already swimming in money with Resident Evil and Monster Hunter (and it is a miracle Devil May Cry 5 even exists), again, we have to give them credit for at least testing the waters by spending money on getting Takeshi Kaneshiro back for this remaster, sadly, most fans just forgot about this franchise, and there werent that many fans to begin with...
I think the most likely scenario is a complete reboot of the franshie on the RE engine, but that would mean no Samanosuke, no Jubei, no Jaques, and none of the charm from the Sengoku setting, the historic figures, and more than likely, completely new gameplay mechanics, and if they were to do that, what would be the point of even calling it "Onimusha"?
