Tower of Dhur--Am I Missing Something?
I haven't had too many issues with the game's difficulty, but this boss fight is insane with the shocked attack. (Why is this not counted within Cure?) Quite frankly I am hoping I don't not have to grind to get passed it as I've gotten to Lv 16 with only the tower and the ice place left to explore for the main quest.

Now the game keeps hinting at a cloak ability will help, but I don't see a way to equip it anyhere, so some help would be appreciated.

You can replace abilities already on the board with abilities in your item inventory. Amon gets Cloak from a storyline boss I believe, and you can get a second one for Ive by clearing Gold in the Suvia Arena.
You can also change which abilities are attached to which buttons in the Abilities menu, with a quick select and swap.

I don't remember the boss very well from Festival of Magic and I'm not that far in the new Earthlock, but... have you tried doing an elemental shield with Taika? If you use her study ability against the mirror enemies you can learn a lot of elemental knowledges very quickly, and then the shield gives you one hit immunity for each of them.

To tell whether or not you need to grind, listen to the party when you start the boss fight. If they sound scared, you probably need more talents before you can proceed. Remember you can also get TP from battle bonds, which are very easy to build in either of the arena challenges (Especially if you're trying to get gold in them).

So I eventually found a previous post on the old forums who had this issue, and I had to do the same exact thing. First I had to replay the first tournament to get the two abilities needed to stand a chance, Trip Wire and Cloak, and then I had to spam them along with the Stormdog's firebreath to get through that mess. Once I had all that configured, it was a breeze compared to my gun/crossbow method throughout the game.

And I've tried to use that learn ability along with Silence. It seems like it doesn't work 95% of the time, so I forget to use it at all.

AH! I remember this fight now! Just did it and yeah, the Harness Energy ability is brutal. The best hope is that it'll be a glance, but there's also another trick you can use to make it less devastating: equip your party with Earth Master talents. They reduce Electro damage enough that the attack is non-fatal. Then you can spam Healing Elixer + to get back to full and continue the fight.

Sorry I didn't have the answer before you beat the boss, but hopefully this'll help somebody else who gets stuck there.

Tried that but I kept getting party wipes without the cloak, although i could have also tried PAT's absorb ability like the train boss. It was a surprisingly fun fight when you can keep the boss from using that one attack.

Did you replay the festival in Zaber? Or in Suvia? Because I've done them both, but I haven't achieved the cloak ability.... do I need to get gold?

Yes. You have to defeat all five rounds in Zaber with Gold, meaning you have to lure ALL of them into 5 fights. Any more than five is silver.

Thanks. By the way I defeated the Boss by just grinding and attacking him relentlessly...

This boss is seriously obnoxious, even if you specifically know what to do.

First of all, it's designed so that you'll have no chance of winning unless you first lose and can then get the hints. The hints are required to understand how this works. The mechanic of "melee attacks on your party members remove Shocked" status is not something players would figure out on their own, especially because it's a brand new status for this specific fight.

Second, it requires two specific party members to participate, otherwise you lose. This has shades of the Franfir fight, where if you bring Olia, the only thing she can do there is throw items at people. I didn't even know that the Suvia arena was something you could do until coming here to read about this boss, I thought the arena was just for the story-loss fight.

Third, melee attacks have a high chance of missing, especially if you've been boosting evasion on your party. You can even fail to hit yourself, which is amazing.

Fourth, the boss can actually remove your Cloak early. This only deals a glancing blow or no damage, but it loses your cloak. Related, Shocked status persists if you're cloaked. Since going cloaked is supposed to be the intended way to deal with this fight, by all rights, going cloaked SHOULD clear Shocked.

Fifth, the boss is super fast and because of points three and 4, the boss can apply Shocked faster than you can reliably remove it from yourself.

Sixth, Energy Harness does so much damage that it is essentially a TPK.

SEVEN: OH MY GOD. Being knocked out doesn't even remove Shocked. WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥.

Eight: When the boss hits you with Shocked, it knocks your turn back. I'll say that again. When the boss hits you, it delays your next turn.

Overall, just a combination of really obnoxious design choices makes for an enemy which is unfun to fight.

EDIT 3: I just beat it, using this strategy:

Just beat Twisted Guardian with Amon+Ive & Gnart+Taika all at lvl 16. Have Gnart casting haste on Taika, have Taika cast electro resist on party. Have Amon use Fire Blast ++, have Ive use Fire Lance++. ez win. Amon died once, if your ppl get low, use Gnart's Special and cast Full Heal on party. As an added bonus I tried giving the talent - Earth Master to as many as possible. this will give u +30% Electro Resist :) GL

It was, by no means, an "ez win". At all. Multiple attempts. Multiple deaths. Still supremely obnoxious even at level 17-18.

I wound up winning with Taika using electro-immune shields and the rest of the party with Earth Master perks and lots of Resilience talents. Make sure you bond Taika with either Gnart for extra healing or Ive for 50% electro damage resist. Won on my second try (first being the obligatory BS TPK that the designers apparently expect from most bonus bosses). But I was levels 19-20 so that probably did a good chunk of heavy lifting. I didn't have Cloak yet, either.
