How do I get 1080p with railroad tycoon 3? (Solved)

I'd like to be able to run the game at 1080p, and one major source of frustration I've found is that Google seems to get Rollercoster tycoon mixed with Railroad tycoon. I've even seen this happen here on steam. There has to be some sort of patch, or hack we can do to get it to run at 1080p.

OK, figured it out, so if anyone else is having trouble...push the f10 Key, it will cycle between resolutions, and 1080p is among them although it's not listed in the drop down menu. If on a Mac using windows 10 bootcamp like I am, you need to press the function key as well as the f10 key

They hotkey is f12 for me, and it maxes out at 1600x1200

Try the Fkeys between f10-f12, on my mac pro it was f10. Just installed the game again, to see if if I'd get a different result. f11 key worked (I'm using manjaro linux at this writing though)

I recall on my mac pro, I got full 1080p and I was using windows 10 via bootcamp. May depend on your video card, but you should be able to get a wider screen anyway.

Anyway...use the F-key that works, and use it when you're in the settings menu.

It depends on your system and hardware. RT3 doesn't always read new hardware properly. There's a patch here http://www.wsgf.org/dr/railroad-tycoon-3 (wide screen gaming forums). It kind of tricks the game into using a higher resolution. That page is so old, it's actually using 1650x1080, but you can make adjustments to get 1920x1080.

In my case F11 and F12 keys switch between higher and lower resolutions, but maximum resolution is still only 1680x1050.
