I'm a little suck and could use an opinion; maybe a hint.
** Note: The following does contain some brief spoilers about a part of the game that happens midway through. Although, I only described the details that I need to explain my issue.

I'm not sure if this was intended by design and I've just missed something or I've happened upon a game-breaking bug. I'm in the segment of the game where Charlotte is captured by the other tenants. I've managed to escape Huxley's laboratory and am currently sitting in the basement hallway, the area with red walls.

The problem I've run into is I cannot backtrack into Huxley's Lab. Nor can I enter Felix's lab as Charlotte prompts a refusal message when attempting to enter both areas. As well as she refuses to enter the white door to the right of Huxley's lab. This only leaves me with the one exit to the south. That leads to the enterance-way, but as soon as I go through the door. I get an instant captured event that gives me a bad ending (for science).

So basically I'm stuck in the basement hallway and the game will not let me used any exits to move forward and/or backward. I also have no inventory items that may affect the situation either. So maybe I missed something before leaving Huxley's Lab?
For reference you can get a screenshot of where I'm talking about at " goo .gl/Qr9N51 " (remove space)

Unfortunately, I was admittedly silly and was saving with one slot only without having spares. So I'm also saved locked in this hallway as well. Just wanted to check if I missed something or if anyone has any ideas. Before I go ahead and restart the game from the beginning. As I do not really want to make the same mistake twice.

I actually ended up waiting in the corpse pile until Charlotte got out on her own. After I chose to wait two or three times. As the first time, I attempted to get out, it was too early and I got caught. I guess maybe because I did wait too long to get out. I trapped myself in delayed failure path. It does seem to be a logical reason for my issue. I'm not really a fan of the delayed game ending result, but at least now I feel I have a general idea of what the issue might be. Well, thank you very much for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it.

Oof, yeah. That's way too long. I only chose to wait it out once before letting her leave (At the very least, say 'yes' twice to wait it out the first time, and then 'no' when it asks to wait again.)

Because she warned the player about going too fast but waiting too long, I'm honestly surprised I got it right the first time??

I do remember the warning about getting out the pit early or late. That's why I do agree with you, that's the issue. It's definitely got a tight window for success. Anyways again thank you for taking the time to answer. =D
