I can never see enough to make it viable, even wearing a mask its all too blue to distinguish anything and its not like you can take a torch with you
Yeah as far as I can see it just extends your air for a bit and makes everything more blue...not really that helpful
Plus I heard that lanterns degrade over time even though they use a torch which does not. Can you top the lantern up with another torch or do you waste the iron?
build a 2 block wide 2 block tall hallway.. the hallway that your about to enter to find the spider queen in use this hallway.
(dont matter which side you place it on)at the start of the hallway of the entrance to the spider queen place a block on the ground and on top of that one then place a third block on the back of the bottom one you just placed facing the spider queens room.
the spiders will jump up on that last block you just placed and get stuck kinda so you can farm them from the side. they will get unstuck if you run around the side of it. this is why the hallway needs to be 2 blocks wide
Not exactly linear, you have plenty of options of different islands to go to to get the ingredients you need (with some late game core exceptions), its more the fact that their are very few to no minerals under the surface, so all veins are exposed to some extent. Therefore if you are looking for something in particular (say iron), you can usually tell if the island you are on has what you need in the first 5 mins of landing, by running around and searching faces of exposed stone for the telltale colors of minerals or ores.
Basically a 'what you see is what you get' type of thing rather than a 'you never know what you got until you dig a bit'.
Yeah worked this one out last night thanks!
By building a sort of rolling shield I was able to avoid the web spitters until I was close enough to hack at their legs without them able to attack me around my shielding blocks.
and the dev team *might* be making a new hardcore mode and making islands random generated when starting a new game. they have not said for sure tho. my gut feeling says they are
