At least for solo there will be a ranked system
Still, skill based matchmaking or ranked would be most welcome.
Can't believe they don't launch with such important feature tbh.
IIRC, Spellbreak's initial MM design was to just let everyone have at it after lvl 8-ish, and be slaughtered by Veteran players. Sometime later, just before they released on Steam, they changed the MM to have brackets based on your account level (not based on skill or ratios).
The unfortunate part was that it wasn't very hard to level your account, even if you were a bad player. So being placed in the same match as the Alpha/Beta/Higher Skilled players was inevitable.
It's really tough to say what would be the best choice to go about this though... Even if Bloodhunt just went with a traditional MMR system, it would split the community and queue times would increase. Unless the Rank system had some form of worthwhile rewards, majority of the skilled players wouldn't bother with it - since the queue time would be atrocious as fewer players get involved.
Tell me your balls haven't dropped without telling me your balls haven't dropped.
Well ive been playing multiplayer games for well over a decade and a half and ive never seen anything as insanely stupid as what Spellbreak did, so we shouldnt worry about that. It will likely have a regular skill based matchmaking system. Though I have to disagree about people not bothering with ranked, since ranked modes tend to be the most popular in alot of competitive games, since its a decently easy way of playing against other people on your level or close to. Assuming the ranked matchmaking is well made, veterans and newcomers alike will benefit greatly.
If I can get a dub you can too, buddy.
