Autosave + No mission restart option = 18 hours wasted
I don't know if I am alone in this, but I may have just wasted all the time I have invested into this otherwise awesome game.

I finally fought a battle in which I got rekt. No spoilers, but this is the culminating fight before reaching Eden involving a ton of enemies and requiring some serious strategy. Well, two of my members were bleeding out and I decided to call it quits, reload, and come back to it with a fresh strategy.

Quit the game, turned off the PC, and went about my business. Started it today to find that "continuing" didn't start from my previous save spot as it had in the past. Instead, it put me right back into the situation in which my team was getting worked over. Then the game autosaved. So, my save file was then over ridden, meaning I couldn't go back to start over again if I wanted to.

Since there is no "Restart Mission" option, my only options are to keep playing in a hopeless spot, hoping that the AI does something different and I get a chance at success (not likely at all in the current scenario), OR I restart the game from scratch.

How can there not be a "restart mission" option? This is a garbage situation and I am really bummed. I don't have the time nor energy to invest back into the game right now.

Has this happened to anyone else?

EDIT: I just ended up straight up cheating. Got a cheat code for max health/god mode. Beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of the enemies, and moved on. Turned off God mode, obviously, but it sucks that it had to come to that.

Manual save is your friend here, NEVER rely on autosaves as they can and WILL ♥♥♥♥ you over ESPECIALLY in an RPG based game...I've learned the hard way multiple times in RPG games that it's always best to have 1-3 manual saves so in case something does ♥♥♥♥ up you have a set place to pick up from.

I hear you, but I don't have the option to manually save. I am sure it is a bug (one of many). Literally the only way I can save is by going into options, changing a setting, then clicking the save option that pops up. The manual save is permanently grayed out for me - hence this cluster ♥♥♥♥.

I looked about and some people are saying that sometimes the install of the game actually FORGETS to make a save folder for Mutant Year Zero on your system due to the install actually borking itself and they can't save because technically the game has no way to save anything. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/110691-cant-save-option-grayed-out-normal-difficulty/

Look at the potential fixes here and see if any of those work for a future run.
Ironman/Ironmutant features are buggy at best. In most games, not just MYZ. YMMV; but unless you need a badge, just play the honor system. Save periodically to save your progress; but don't reload when stuff goes sideways, unless it's a game/os bug.

This would be an install error. Hopefully you've learned to verify you can save before investing more time. We do have sympathy for you. It's easy to get uptight about these things, unless your life is so free from responsibility you can MYZ 7x24x365...
