Length?
Hi,

How long will it take to beat the game?

Tnx.

20 HOOOUURSS?!?!??!

I hope that just means the main story, and not open world play.
I love the whole idea with this game, but if its over in 2 days?

It looks fantastic and I would like to buy it on day 1.... but I won't since it is only 20 hrs. For a game, 20 hrs is nothing. I don't even have the time to get invested on it. Just for comparison, I spent hundreds of hours in XCOM / XCOM 2.

I'll wait for the inevitable Definitive Edition and all DLC / expansion / update during a sale. Sorry, I would love to support you, but value is very important to me.

Actually, if it was longer I wouldn't buy it, since I don't have that much time to play games. 20 hours is more than enough for me. So, don't worry developers, you can't please everyone :D

Btw, as far as I know, this game is much more story-driven than XCOM, that's why it's "only" 20 hours...

Generally, I don't play XCOM-like games, but I like tactical turn-based combat and games with a strong emphasis on a more or less scripted campaign, that's why Mutant Year Zero seems like my cup of tea.

But, community manager Jens Erik could shed some light on whether this is a more story-driven campaign game, or more of a "sandboxy" experience? :)

based on the interviews etc. I believe this is an adventure RPG game with tactical turn based combat. But at it's core, the game is an RPG, not a mission based tactical game.

Graphic is superb, but 15-20 hours? Sorry it's not serious. It's fine for XBOX-kids. Not my kind. The most serious parameters of the modern game are replayability and long length of campaign. Short length of a game with good graphics is good for marketing, because it let you make another expensive parts or/and DLCs.
For example XCOM, XCOM2 are good games but they are 2 levels below original UFO Defence by these 2 parameters I just mentined above even if they had around 60-80 hours of playtime, imo. Probably it's good RPG. Good luck!

iv spent around 20-22h on the Demo/beta before i felt "done" with it, and thats just a tiny part of the game, so if you are like me, and look around all over and explore, dont worry :)

It would be really nice to get the developer's take on this comment.

Was the 15-20 hours in regards to the main quest only?

Or is that including side-content/exploration as well? If so, you'd probably want people to know, as length seems to be a pretty big selling point for a game like this.

I personally would like to know if there are any plans for DLC or player created content? Opening this game up to the community would surely extend it's life several times over as seen in past games where modding has prevailed.

It's a consideration for sure, but valuing games by the hour is gonna have you missing out some great stuff in place of some repetative and grindy experiences that boast 100+ hours of gameplay. (Not that X COM falls under that catagory).

Judge it on it's merits, though it is of course up to you what you are willing to pay for that experience.

Finished the demo a few times and I've got to say I absolutly loved it and can't wait to get this unlocked now, just finishing the demo first time I spent about 5 hours and enjoyed all of it. The story is very intresting and the maps well designed with combat feeling smooth and well thought out. The stealth and setting up ambushes worked way better than I hoped with all of the mutations I unlocked being useful and giving each character a unique feel.
One thing I would like to know is if the maps will repopulate in the full game? I didn't see enemies respawn but I went around every map very carefully and was sure I didn't miss any loot only to go back to some maps and find some of the scrap and items had respawned, even a few of the maps with respawning enemies that are random would add immensly to the replayability (or first run though I guess lol). I don't often leave comments or mini reviews like this but I have to say to anyone on the fence I can't recomend this game enough, if the price isn't for you I would keep this one on a watchlist to pick up when it's on sale but from what I've played I am very happy buying this game for full price (well twice really as I bought this and Mechanicus for a friend as well as I loved them both)
