Largest Growing Mod Database
I encourage you all to go to the Sid Meier's Railroad Forum at sidmeiersrailroads.net for the largest growing mod database. We have so much information over on SMR and many mods. Be sure to make an account there and join in on the discussions. If you are having problems with SMR someone can help you. I look forward to seeing some new people over there.

You can buy the game used/new on Ebay which is the best choice. You are better off getting the CD version of SMR, we have heard that people encountered problems with the Steam version of the game. We do not pirate the game, we just add mods to it like new engine, cars, industries, and goods. We have so much to offer over there.

A few members, including me, are getting into Blender to create new models. I have a big map called SMR in North America that is in the works and made a food processing plant in Blender. The model is very basic and I didn't want it to have too many vertices and faces. The problem with this game is that it takes in memory and doesn't let go which is why some computers crash and others don't. People will think something is wrong but the computer really just ran out of memory.

The Steam version of SMR has pretty much the same problems with memory that the CD version has. Fortunately, the fix is relatively simple. What you do, is go to a site called SMRSimple.com, download the executable (railroads.exe), turn off Steam, delete your original copy of railroads.exe, then transfer the executable from your downloads folder to the folder where your original railroads.exe used to be. Now turn Steam back on and run the game from the games menu just as you would with any other Steam game. For most people, this should solve the problem and allow your computer to use its upper memory.

For many people who have multi core computers there can be a bit of a stuttering affect this is also easily fixable by telling the PC to use only one core to run Railroads. I don't remember exactly what the procedure is for that, but I'll research it and post it here once I locate it again.

Happy Robber Baroning everyone! May your pockets be full, and your competition be quickly subdued.

Good lord that forum is almost completely impossible to navigate successfully as someone who has never been there before. You may understand its idiosyncrasies, NSrailfan, but that forum is horribly poorly set up. I have no idea where I should go to find what I want, nor does there seem to be any kind of pack that would make jumping in with a large set of new content easy. I'm pretty sure that's what andy2084 was talking about.

It's quite fairly simple to navigate really. Under the banner at the very top of the page are some buttons; click on forums and you will be taken to a page with many forums available. Having a problem with the game? Select the "Issues" forum with the stop light icon. There you can find many issues others have had, issues being discussed, or post about a issue your having.

Make an account over there, say hi, and if you need help navigating the forum the admin's are very friendly and always willing to help. Please keep in mind you can't view any pictures of downloads until you have made 2 posts anywhere in the forum.

Why would I have to register with my ISP provided e-mail? I have never once used it, and I don't intend to.

The idea is based upon that most spam accounts are generated by free email accounts, thus a ISP provided email is paid for and less likely to be spam. Our forum is completely free of all spam because of this.

Bad site, nothing open, must register ( with ISP email) Most people dont even get one of these, way out of date. This thread should be removed.

It's funny... it doesn't even open in any of my browsers... may be even my IP is not "noble enough".

It appears, that this site is not only free of spam, it is even free from common sense.

To use the site you must have a updated version of your internet browser.
Felix.AVMP Aug 31, 2014 @ 4:01am
Well, my browsers are up-to-date as possible and all I am getting is blank white page and the "favicon" in the adress bar (which indicates, that there is indeed something on the other side), both in IE 11 and FF 31.0. Nothing more.
Sorry, there is only so much hoops I am willing to jump through...

There might be an IP restriction, DNS restriction, whatever.
It is even possible that it is actually your provider, who is causing this problem.
(I got these results in several networks, including the local "univesity" network, which is 100% free of all restrictions, just to rule out, that the problem is caused by my home provider, all of them from the "cz" top level domain - yes, I could use an american proxy and try an us IP adress, but same way you refuse to accept freemail I refuse to use 3rd party proxy just to get to one fan site).

Site works for me with Chrome but my email address is problematic. I'm told an admin will review it so we'll see.
NSrailfan Aug 31, 2014 @ 6:57am
All free e-mail accounts are seen as potential spammer accounts. I had a Hotmail account, free, so it made some difficulties for me to get; however I already had a good reputation before coming to the site.

Oh well, while it would be nice to have registered I'm not going to be asking my provider for a 1 time use email account.
